lion_of_judah -> Crisis Zaire - 1977 - Present (12/19/2011 9:53:09 AM)

The Scenario begins in May 1977, Central African Republic ( entire country made), Rwanda, cheated and combined both Rwanda and the nation to its south ( cannot remember it off the top of my head). Border area of Tanzania, border area of Uganda, Sudan, Zambia and large portion of Angola. The northern section of C.A.R. needs too be updated a bit, because from what I have read the northern tip of of the country has desert instead of jungle and so this will be done later in the day and updated version will be done today. Flags for each nation including the border nations that are not active made and finished.

The playable nations are as follows The Republic of the Congo, Zaire, Central African Republic, Rwanda, Angola. Regime without any territory ( Democratic Republic of Congo) allied with Rwanda and so their units begin in Rwandan territory. Even though Uganda is a border nation and so not all their territory is shown, I have given them 1 HQ unit and 3 Infantry Brigades ( do not know if I will make them playable yet). Belgium is allied with Zaire and has units, but since I cannot program events , they remain an active regime allied with Zaire. Zaire also has a Mercanary base as well and their cost is "300" for Zaire to produce which turns into something like 12 mercs being produced every turn.

Flags are made for the following nations, " Zaire, Rwanda, Angola, Uganda, C.A.R. ( central african republic), Sudan ( old flag), Zambia and Tanzania. The Zairian OOB is not very big, should be 25,000 men maybe a little more or less. Rwandan OOB for the time line 1977 haven't been able to find concret information on this, except for today's army so for now they have 6 infantry brigades, a mechanized regiment and 4 reserve infantry brigades will probably reduce them in later versions once i can find more information on their OOB from 1977. I'm thinking about expanding Tanzania and adding more territory onto them but this will be much later.

I will upload images maybe today but before the end of the week on what is now finished. I have decided to do this instead of updating my South Africa one for now, since the South Africa scenario just doesn't seem very appealing as of now. I will also attempt programming in weather and so we will see how this works, though not holding out any hope we'll see....

P.S. - the helicopters will be tried here and see how it works with not only transporting units to each hex but staying with them in the hex as a seperate unit. The Paratroopers have airmobile movement factor now ( built in helo transport) use fuel just don't know if they should be fuel hogs or use less fuel. I'm thinking though that for defense they would not use any fuel only in the attack, yes no or maybe on this part?

we'll after reading more around the whole conflict, it now may start in 1994 or 1996 because Mobuto was overthrown as a result of Zaire's direct intervention in the Rwandan civil war, with Zaire siding with the Government of Rwanda who was involved in the genocide of the Tutsi. The RPF was the rebel side fighting against the Hutu government who won the conflict and then turned its sites on Zaire who was and had been aiding the Hutu Government and then the Hutu Miltia after their government had fallen. This is where the support for the DRC ( Democratic Republic of Congo) comes in. So if this is too be somewhat historical I will need to start it in this later time period.....

lion_of_judah -> RE: Crisis Zaire - 1977 - Present (12/20/2011 6:46:21 AM)

The start date for this will change to 1994 or 1996. This is when Kabilia (misspelled) who became the President of Democratic Republic of Congo after Mobutu was overthrown from power in Zaire. Kabilia launched his invasion of Zaire from Rwanda with the backing of the Rwandan government who basically wanted payback against Mobutu who helped the Hutu Government in Rwanda during the Rwandan civil war. Zaire had directly intervened in the civil war and protected a government who committed acts of genocide against their own people, ie the Rwandan civil war. What I don't want to do is have a replay of this somewhat because in reality once Kabilia invaded the Zarian army collapsed almost immedialty and so this would make for a boring and fast game.

The goal is to have objective cities and towns that the FAZ must keep in order to win, when they lose one of these objective hexes this will eventually cause a major morale drop effecting the FAZ units. There will be one or two of these objective areas which will be so crucial that they must be held at all costs for if one of these are lost it will increase even more the likely hood of a major morale drop. This is one scenario that I'm extremely exited to work on.....

P.S there will be no end date victory will be if the FAZ collapses due to loss of a certain amount of victory hexes or an immediate victory if the capital falls. The only way I can see a immediate victory though is if Angola enters the war and captures Kinshasa. This is a possiblity though because Angola was supporting the Katangan rebels and so I don't know if they supported Kabilia or not. I don't know if I want to add another regime though but who knows......

lion_of_judah -> RE: Crisis Zaire - 1977 - Present (12/21/2011 6:55:08 AM)

updates as of 12/20/11 - added Republic of Katanga as new regime along with their flag. Now active players are as follows - Democratic Republic of Congo, Zaire, C.A.R, Rwanda, Angola, Katanga, Republic of Congo, Uganda and Belgium. PP points for units are cost of 5 and HQ are 10. Katanga is allied with Angola and begins play inside of Angola on the border with Zaire. Katanga goal is to recapture all of southern Zaire and proclaim independance for Katanga. DR. Congo begins play inside Rwanda and their goal is to recapture all of Zaire and proclaim all it " Democratic Republic of Congo"

Zaire has all of their raw material mines located in the east so the loss of this portion of the nation will cause severe shortages and hamper their military production. This scenario is now ready for playtesting. what still needs too be added is the events regarding victory conditions and how those will be programmed.

lion_of_judah -> RE: Crisis Zaire - 1977 - Present (1/23/2012 5:42:01 AM)

this scenario is now finished with the exception of events programmed. once the events are programmed, then i will post this scenario on line. While waiting on this I have been replacing the images in " rise of babylon" with new images for each regime and this was finished as of yesterday morning, so now it is finished and will post new screen shots of this sometime this week.

Very excited about the release of Crisis Zaire, this will get me playing ATG again. Scenarios like these are exactly why I bought the game...wish I could make them, just don't have the skills.

Will you release Cote D'Ivoire as well?

Thanks!!

yes they both are scheduled for release but no date has been set yet. I'm actually redoing images for several of my scenario's as follows:

South Africa - Images in process of redoing.
Crisis South America ( which I have yet to post screen shots, but images are finished. This one I have never talked about but have been working on for a very long time)
Rise of Babylon- all images are now finally finished, as are maps, OOB's and unit placement. Just haven't decided where I want to go with this one.
Cote D'Ivoire finished, haven't decided if I want to do events for this or just leave as is.
Crisis Zaire still has minor tweaking, and the very last thing will be event programming ( this will be the very last thing and so no date has been set or given but it will be awhile before it is ready)

The above will be finished before I begin on the following below. - ( haven't even begun the map making or anything, but gathering images, OOB information)

" War in the Horn of Africa"
" Chad-Libya war"
" Libyan civil war"
" Egypt-Libyan war"
" War in Central America"
" Mexican civil war"
" war in the Caucasus" - war between Georgia and Russia
" Egypt-Israel war"
" Koren War" Hypothetical

The South American map was first made by "proulerDCS" back in 07 or 08 for the AT game, what I have done is, taken this map further and added more terrain detail for the entire map and made it into my own version. Before I do anything with this I have sent a PM to this player and asked his permission to make my own version of this public. So now am waiting on a reply. I checked though and he has not logged in since 08. Now I ask how long should I wait for a reply before going ahead and just make my version public.

by the way, " Rise of Babylon" has scuds ( V-1 Rockets), but I'm having a heck of a time getting these things to work and so I'm stuck.
