cverbrug -> overland supply problem to Lea (11/8/2002 3:53:29 PM)

Dear All,

I have the following question/probem.
It concerns overland supply to a base which you do not supply by ship.

It concerns New-Guinea. The allied player hold PM, and a still ahve the bases at Lea and all the bases one/two hexes next to Lea.

There is a road going through the mountains to a port 7 hexes (by road) to the north.

I enalrged that port, and stuffed it with supplies.

7 hexes road movement would mean according to the rules that i lose 70% of the supply transported by road.
Howver, i still get 0 supplies even after weeks of waiting in any of the bases near Lea which can be reached by that road?

Is this another bug that the overland supply does not work?

Christophe

In my games I saw that the overland supply only comes if you
have troops placed in those bases.

In my last PBEM (I was playing as Japanese) Lae did suppy
those surrounding bases but only if I had troops there.

Hope this helps a bit...

Do you mean troops in the bases who give the supply, or in the bases on the receiving end?

I have troops in the bases on the receiving end.

I meant that your troops should be in bases on the receiving end.

Since you do have them there I don't know what is the problem.

BTW, for how many UV days did you test this issue?

The brown line connecting Lae to Port Morseby is a Trail, not a Road. So only like 0.000001% of the supplies sent over it are going to actually arrive in Lae (loss rate for a trail is 90% per hex.
So after 7 hexes of trail, only 0.1 x 0.1 x 0.1 x 0.1 x 0.1 x 0.1 x 0.1 of the supplies sent from Port Moresby are actually going to arrive.)

I'm still real new at UV but it seems to me the only way to move any significant amount of supply to the inland bases is with air transport. Assuming there is a runway of course.

The original poster is playing as Japanese and holding Lae and
near-by Japanese bases.

Since those are all 1-2 HEXes away the loss of supply is not
that high and overland supply is possible.
