Hi,

The flu is gone. I've lost 2 weeks, the first for being sick, the second to recover first RL stuff in hurry or disarray. Time to get back to the cohesion mod analysis.

Welcome back [:)]

The cohesion mod would have certainly reduced losses for Whites at Tzaritsyn, as the elements would have reached very low cohesion level sooner, and so broke out the battle. Most of the destroyed units would have survived. The REd losses should be the same. Artillery is the key in RUS/FY for both succesful attack or defense. In a perfect world, of course, Red losses would be greater, but that's something I fear I will never be able to reproduce. My only certitude : the cohesion modifications is reducing the lopsided effects of such a battle for the weakest side.

I'll probably start giving your RUS Cohesion Mod a tryout later this week. Please let us know if a revision is imminent.

Chilperic -> RE: Cohesion Mod battle results impacts (1/30/2012 3:58:35 PM)

Imminent, no. Let'say not before 2 weeks. I'm going to introduce the last factions in this one, so it will take a longer time than usual.

I have just download FY1.06 and set it up with RUS1.04.
Great mod. It has got me playing RUS again after a long break.
But I seem to getting a lot of crashes especially playing the Southern White faction.
Now I can’t progress past a turn which is a shame as the game was going good for me.
I have winter textures turned off, so any ideas on what's happening?

boudi -> FY 1.06 (2/25/2012 12:24:15 PM)

Hello,

How can we know if FY is well installed ? The great campaign is not renamed, like great campaign-FY by exemple, and i'm surprised.

I think that all is ok, but before playing, how can i be sure that my FY installation is not wrong ?

Thanks.

Chilperic -> RE: FY 1.06 (8/8/2012 11:32:14 PM)

Sunday, I will release the 1.07 version of Fatal Years. [:)]

More info here:

http://moddercorner.com/

Chilperic -> RE: FY 1.06 (8/8/2012 11:34:04 PM)

By playing the game, maybe.

The 1.07 version will display during game launch Fatal Years 1.07 at the bottom right of the screen.

Chilperic -> RE: FY 1.06 (8/9/2012 10:50:00 AM)

Hi Berto,

here the text strings file. This file may be edited with any text editor but must remain a .csv file.

The first column contains the strings, the second the English text.

berto -> RE: FY 1.06 (8/9/2012 11:09:10 AM)

Got it.

Given that LocalStrings_RUS.csv is a text file, I can easily track changes from version to version using the Linux/Cygwin diff command. By that means, I can focus on the new stuff only, and not have to revisit stuff already edited.

But jeepers, that's a lot of text to review! This is going to take a while...

Chilperic -> RE: FY 1.06 (8/9/2012 11:15:27 AM)

The largest part is from the official game. My own are the tiny part, mostly located at the file end.

berto -> RE: FY 1.06 (8/9/2012 11:27:19 AM)

Yes, but the "official" texts could benefit from some editing, too.

I will edit from the bottom up, however.

berto -> RE: FY 1.06 (8/9/2012 7:44:54 PM)

My edited version of LocalStrings_RUS.csv -- when will you want this by?

I propose to give you something ~24 hours from now -- i.e., ~20:00 UTC, Friday August 10.

I will edit from the bottom up, reviewing/editing the obvious (or apparent) FY content at least.

I can revisit the edits at a later date, move on to the "official" localizations, also keep up with future FY changes.

I just propose to get you something before this weekend's promised FY 1.07 release.

Okay?

Chilperic -> RE: FY 1.06 (8/9/2012 7:48:46 PM)

Here would be perfect, nothing secret [:)]

Thanks [:)]

berto -> RE: FY 1.06 (8/10/2012 7:31:48 PM)

Here is a first edited version of LocalStrings_RUS.csv. (Let's see if the attachment process works ... It did!)

I had a busy night, so I was able to edit only ~500 lines, from the bottom up. Kind of boring actually, so I can't (now or ever) promise perfection. It's hard to keep focused when fixing the same mind-numbing stuff over and over again.

Into the future, let's consider this an on-going project. Whenever you are temporarily done editing your "official" copy of LocalStrings_RUS.csv, you pass the "hot potato" to me. When I am done (when you need it back), I hand it back to you.

I am now handing the hot potato back to you. [;)]

(I have no more time for this during the current weekend. I want to work on my weathers mods instead.)

Chilperic -> RE: FY 1.06 (8/10/2012 11:17:05 PM)

Thanks. [8D] The new file is now part of the mod.

You have done the larger part of the revision work, for what I've added. Most of the offcial text concerns regions and models names which don't need extensive revision.

I will send you a new file with a few new strings soon.

berto -> RE: FY 1.06 (8/11/2012 3:55:32 PM)

Would you do me a favor?

Please test the attached RUS Areas.ini file. In it, I have

  • Corrected region mis-assignments.
  • Redrawn (minor adjustments only) the weather area boundaries.

as described in my RUS weathers mod thread.

These revisions reflect work on the RUS weathers mod as of Feb 4, 2012 (when work on the mod temporarily halted). They base off of the FY 1.06 Areas.ini. So any Areas.ini changes you have made since early February have not been included.

If you see improvement, consider incorporating this revised Areas.ini file into the pending FY 1.07 RCs.

Chilperic -> RE: FY 1.06 (8/11/2012 5:21:13 PM)

Let me know if I'm wrong but your mods are only concerning the // Weather Zones section, with areas numbered from 96 to 111?

If so, I will do do a copy and paste operation as I've indeed since February altered the Theater Areas mainly, but not only for AI purpose.

berto -> RE: FY 1.06 (8/11/2012 5:42:16 PM)

Yes, that is correct. Just weather section edits. (And so far, no weather area entire discards. Every weather area was retained. All IIRC.)

I made some minor syntax adjustments (e.g., removing superflous line-ending |) outside the weather sections, but you can safely ignore those edits.

Remember to make a backup copy of your Aliases.ini beforehand!
