Evrett -> Races not starting in Home system (12/24/2011 7:45:01 PM)

I've got a bunch of races in my current game that didnt start in their home star system, including my own race. Is that working as intended or are races supppose to always start in their designated home star? If I were to make a guess the galaxy generator is placing the stars in the right place according to the galaxy/race settings but placing the actual races randomly.

Cauldyth -> RE: Races not starting in Home system (12/24/2011 8:44:30 PM)

I think this is working as intended. If you do manage to find the designated home star for a race, I think there's always an independent colony of that race there. I think the empires of that race that started somewhere else are considered "long lost colonies" from an earlier time.

I'm pretty sure this is WAD, as I've almost never seen an empire actually start in their "home" star system. This applies to both myself and AI players alike.

I do often stumble across the home system later on in the game, however -- and it is indeed inhabited by an independent colony of that race.

I just had a game as human start in the Sol system. But no independent colony, only me and all the surrounding independents I found were bugs and reptiles. Bummer.

ASHBERY76 -> RE: Races not starting in Home system (12/24/2011 11:19:12 PM)

The race displacement is story related. The story events clearly state that.

Nedrear -> RE: Races not starting in Home system (12/25/2011 2:52:04 AM)

The race file asks for your "ancient" home system. As mentioned in case of your story game it is part of the first galactic evolution and the first Shakturi War were all races were nearly wiped out.

Still for my mods I would like an option of Yes/No for a race to start in their ancient system. Similar to "expand" or "pirates".

Gelatinous Cube -> RE: Races not starting in Home system (12/25/2011 3:32:30 AM)

Yep. There's a great story in here, that you don't find out about except through events and exploration. After its all explained, everything makes a lot of sense.

Rising-Sun -> RE: Races not starting in Home system (12/25/2011 9:24:00 AM)

They are random in those systems, so never except for humans to start in Sol system. Sometime i having a blast looking for sol all over the map and didnt want to a second system named sol. So yes they need to correct this for their starting system.

The red text is incorrect - you can start in other races ancient home system. When you do, you recieve a minority of that race on your homeworld at the beginning.

i.e. If you are playing humans and your start system is named Atuuk, you get Atuuks as a minority population.

So i guess if you not playing humans, they are random then. So i didnt test playing the humans cuz i dont like playing humans lol. Anyway i noticed alot of random games that humans doesnt alway start in Sol System.

Gelatinous Cube -> RE: Races not starting in Home system (12/25/2011 8:07:40 PM)

I suppose its' worth being mentioned in this thread for a third time, then: The displaced races of the galaxy are part of the storyline. Asking for it to be fixed is kind of like asking for a double-edged butter knife. It makes no sense. [&:]

Nedrear -> RE: Races not starting in Home system (12/25/2011 9:12:08 PM)

No Cube as an option for modders in their race file it would make sense. After all some modders deactivate their storyline.

Good point.

Yes, it would, I we have been asking for it for quite a while. I understand it isn't super important, but it would be very very very nice of Elliot to make it happen (and you know, put in a variable for whether a race can be an independent or not).

Shark7 -> RE: Races not starting in Home system (12/28/2011 7:32:56 PM)

A simple 'Force race to start on ancient homeworld Y/N' switch would fix this issue for mods.
