You won't find color pictures of World War II era ships in Jane's Fighting Ships. All their pictures were black & white. (As an aside, Jane's is not a good source of information about historical ships. The information is what was publicly available at the time and is not reliable. I recall that the 1917 edition claimed that the British R Class battleships had no armored belt, relying solely on bulges for protection, and that the Repulse and Renown had a top speed of over 40 knots.) NavSource is probably the best online source of photographs for USN ships. WW2 Cruisers has a great collection of photographs of cruisers and battleships from all navies. What you are looking for (top down color photos) probably doesn't exist for WW II era ships. Color printing was expensive in the 1940s, so most photos you find will be B&W. You may find some B&W photos that have been colorized. Aerial photos of warships are fairly common, but directly top down views are pretty rare. You could try looking for archives from Life magazine. They printed a lot of color photos (still more B&W at the time, though).
