Guadalcanal Scenario - I have a situation where (as Japan) USA have invaded Guadalcanal in the South (Lunga) - and taken that hex, In the Northern hex I have several ground units who are well fortified. Supply is down to 19 (way below what is needed) but has been steady at that amount for the last few days (daily turns). USA are invading by sea into this hex, having landed troops.

I am wanting to drop, by air, supply to my units. Two turns I've changed Rabaul Betty's to do Supply Transport hex above Lunga is within their normal range), but no indication that this has been successful - supply on the ground has remained at 19.

I currently have air superiority (my carriers in the area), having managed to apparently sink some US carriers, the few US 'carrier' planes remaining are at Lunga airfield on Guadalcanal.

Can somebody run me through the correct procedure to drop supply via air. Or confirm that it cannot be done in this situation (I'm guessing it's something to do with US ground forces being in the same hex?).

Check operational report, you will find lines like (at least if you use beta patch):
3 x Ki-57-II Topsy transporting supplies to 69th
8 x Ki-57-II Topsy transporting supplies to 69th
9 x Ki-56 Thalia transporting supplies to 2nd


One Betty can transport only one supply point, so that isn't much. I'd say your land units are taking all the supply you can airdrop.

Only transports can drop supply outside of base hexes, unless it has changed.

Transports and bombers can drop supplies to dot hexes and non base hexes. I'll do that all the time.

Doing it for the 41st Infantry going up the coast of Papua from Milne Bay fighting towards Buna with transports flying out of Cairns. I'm also using the Argonaut and Narwal.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I'm not running the Beta patch, but will check out operational report anyway.
