I thought I would have a play with the proximity distance settings for the computer empires in the start up screen in Legends to confirm (or otherwise) that the problems of using anything but the random setting persist from RotS. In short they do. If anything they seem even more pronounced. (Shrug.)

This image is priceless though. 1400 stars, 15x15, irregular, all computer empires set to distant. My start location was just a wee bit off the middle of the galaxy and most of the empires decided to have a group hug. The other 2 were in the top right corner of the galaxy. [sm=00000117.gif]

Looks like another job for nickwwest. According to him, he can fix things like this with just a couple of code line changes.

I've encountered a similar issue with a galaxy I started this week. 8 Civs, 8x8, 700 stars ?, civ distance set to distant. I load up starting with me in a corner and surrounded by other empires.

So if I set distance to random I wont have this issue? Fantastic.

Yeah, been using random distance on all AI empires to avoid this. Works very well from what I've experienced; Races are quite evenly scattered even on big 15x15 maps. There can be some bunch ups on cluster maps, but that's just nature of those maps.
Still, this is something that needs fixing when possible.

Well, that's quite weird. Always selected random empire distance so I've never actually encountered such an issue in my gaming sessions. Oh, by the way... The topic of the post is quite misleading [:)]

Yeah I thought I was late for my therapy session for a minute.
