Awaras -> Ships "picking up" other ships when going to Hyper (1/11/2012 6:02:29 PM)

This usually happens when I send an explorer ship manually to "discover" a derelict ship("move to" order). If I order the newly discovered ship to go somewhere, it will jump to hyper but the explorer ship will get dragged along with it, even though its own speed reads zero. Playing version 1.7.0.6

I've also noticed this behaviour on many occasions. I think it might be a side effect of ships and bases having to cope with planets orbiting suns. If a ship or based is "attached" to some object via telling it to move to that object it keeps it's relative position to that object. It's a hint that the explorers speed reads 0. It's the same with ships in orbit of a planet (which is moving around it's star).
I use this quite often in the early game - instead of refitting my ships with more generators I RP a bit and build large "swarm" ships that bring the smaller ships with them.

I figured it was just enclosed in the other ship's warp bubble therefore moves with the ship. (kind of star trek like)

I consider this a feature :)

This is certainly not an *intentional* feature [:)]

Fixed in the upcoming 1.7.0.9 update
