Besides War plan Orange, do any other games use the WITP engine? I'm looking at the space games and wondering if any of those use an adopted WITP engine.

Thanks Hans

The reason I asked this is I think this would be a good engine for a space game.
something along the lines of --
First Contact (Not the take on ten races in space, but the fight the first guys you meet)

Imagine no idea what type of race it is (perhaps after a long time intel will trickle in)
random map generator for large and small setups (savable for replay or scenario setup)
(no searching but if opposing TF are on the same path they drop from Warp and fight
And since I usually start these types of things and don't get far from the planning stage some of my initial thoughts

Single Man Craft
Fighters Top Speed (adj % to be hit %to help vs a diff group % less accurate
Fast/Powerful weapons
Short Range
Best Engines

Bombers (easier to hit less Crit hits)
Long range
Hard hitting Weapon
Takes Punishment

Stealth (Sub like)
Slow/ Stealth drains engine
One Shot Power weapon

Jammers
Slow / long range
Engines diverted to Jammer

Make on order for the type of new craft you want and
When new type produced random variances in stats to hit crit chance speed accuracy armor ecw

Weapons Rated on Range/Damage/accuracy/ECW/Reliability
When new Weapons ordered random effectiveness variances (so you could end up with American torpedos, well not that bad maybe)

Missles (1 special tech grants Scan - launch then tries to lock)
Levels incease doesn't drain engine counter ECW
Damage
Range
Space problems / locking on target
Lasers
Levels Increase specials more damage vs armor
Cooldown Speed
damage
Increase Crit chance
Reduces Engine Power / Targeting
Plasma no lock ons no ecw
Levels Increase
Shots per burst
Accuracy
Weapon life
Limited ammo/ Weapon Burnout/Maintenance
Warp bomb
Levels Increase increased crit
Damage
Accuracy
Storage Space
Time to prepare shot
Limited Ammo
Space Rift (Torpedo) ignores shields
Levels Increase
Damage
Accuracy
reliability
one or two shots max
Must duel ECW for lock
Inaccurate

Tech tree randomly spawns variances (Ex fire and forget Missle) the other side will not get, but could spend resources reverse engineering

SMC example

Class Name : Corsair Mission Protection
Role : Fighter SMC Experience 2

Engine : 123 10 Reserve
Armor Weapons
Front 10 Plasma - .50 cal
Back 10 Accuracy 103
Sides 5 Damage 3 - 15
Top Speed 63 ECW -
Shields 20 Reliability 90
5 shot burst

Other Weapon Examples
Laser - A3
Accuracy 98
Damage 10
ECW 15
Reliability 98
150% damage vs Armor

Warp Bomb - Mk II
Accuracy 106
Damage 50
ECW -
Reliabilty 96

Engagement Turn Sequence
Drop from Warp
Random distance from target (Like Night Encounter)
Possible damage to ships
See if one side wants to bug out
Must charge engines for x turns
Battle Sequence
SMC dogfights
Cap Fighters allocated to groups
based on odds and leader
Speed adj % hit another group
Fighter vs fighter
Fighter vs strike
Capitals scan for stealth
Capitol anti-SCM
Strike fighters
ECW Ships attempt to lock on
Capitol Fire
Apply Damage

AI Plans
Monitor Production levels
Attacks to keep up on output
R & D to up output
Techie
R & D to get best stuff
monitor production
Tyrant
Locate weakest area's and attack
get a good design and mass produce
Specialist
take a few trees and R & D
Max supplies

Land units
Armor
can have flaz (flack lasers)
can have anti armor
Infantry
can have flaz
can have anti Armor
Guns
can be anti Armored
can be flaz
can be anti Inf
Capitol Weapons
same as ships

Grfin Zeppelin -> RE: WITP Engine (1/27/2012 11:14:34 PM)

Dont laugh but I sometimes thought a random map generator could be fun.

Captain Cruft -> RE: WITP Engine (1/28/2012 12:34:53 AM)

A random map generator is rather difficult, but a random battle generator using the existing map would be relatively easy.

lpgamble,

The WitP engine can't even begin to do all that stuff, sorry.
