marty_01 -> Sea of Azov & Soviet Amphibious Capability? (1/25/2012 6:44:37 PM)

I’ve noticed in a couple of my most recent PBEMs that – while there is amphibious lift capability in the Sea of Azov, I can’t actually conduct amphibious movement. I’ve only tried it during winter and blizzard turns. I don’t know if this also occurs during clear and mud turns.

Did I miss a new rule where by the Soviets can’t conduct amphibious operations within the Sea Azov? If yes, why dos the game still show an amphibious lift capability for the Sea of Azov?

Thanks

Is the port you are moving from damaged? I'll have to check with the programmers to see if ice blocks amphib in the Sea of Azov (I don't find any documentation about that). Amphib moves cost more MPs now since 1.05.18, but that shouldn't make a difference in the Sea of Azov.

I have noticed the same problem.

Hi Joel:

No, the ports are undamaged. And I've tried several different port locations in the Sea of Azov. None of them are allowing amphib movement. The units I am attempting to move have 100% of their movement points available prior to attempting amphib landing.

Is it completely frozen? If yes, it is restricted to have it when it is frozen.

Could it be a Sea Zone thing? When performing Naval Transport, you cannot go directly past Kerch but if you stop in that hex, you can move further.

So from which port are you starting the amphibious move?

Like I said above, I tried several ports in the sea of Azov...to include: Eysk, Azov, Temryuk, Genichesk, and Kerch. Amphib Lift capacity is indicated as 900. I'm trying to conduct amphib movement of a single naval infantry brigade with a transport cost of 434. No go. I have had no problems doing this in the past -- winter or blizzard. I can no longer do Amphib in the Sea of Azov when using BETA 1.05.53

This must be the problem. I assume this is a new rule as I used to be able to conduct amphib movement during the blizzard in the Sea of Azov in previous versions of the game.
