Originally posted by Widi I play the Allies and the IJN in the four pbem games I have going presently. I've also got a few completed games under my belt (short scenarios or early victories). All I can say is, your version of UV must be very different from mine. In my experience either side can clobber the other. Lots of variables and player actions obviously contribute to the wide variety in outcomes I've experienced both in individual battles and entire games. Go ahead and put the game down if you don't like it. Nothing can be well received by every individual. Me, I'll keep playing for now. UV is a challenge, it's fun, and I've met some nice people in my opponents. -Widi
Well said. I can only think that this poster was suffering from the same "jeez, I'm an idiot" phenomenon all the rest of us suffered from when first learning how to play. I can only suggest that you stay with it. This is, by far, the greatest naval warfare computer simulation ever published (warts and all - and improvements have been prolific). It's like reading Chaucer or Dickens: you may be overwhelmed at first (the language barrier of Middle English for Chaucer and the sheer bulk of Dickens), but the rewards from persevering are immense (okay, I haven't had much of a chance to trot out my literature background in these forums, so gimme a break - I've had to deal with mdiehl and chiteng. This is like a vacation - unless they show up, wheelbarrow and shovel, to heap more invective ...).
