But it is very easy to burn out....I know. I took a looooong sabbatical for real world medical reasons and now am rearing to get back into it when 02 reboots.....

In 02 I gave up worrying about it and a few months later im still ranked 12th..It was too much off a hassle trying to reorganize everything.

Thanks for all the responses. I must admit that I have always been intrigued by this thread and will continue to do so.

Best wishes,

In reply to the new special world S2:

It's really slow paced. The need to get enough money to buy makes expansion very difficult. I have one airline making 0.45m a month, needing 18m to buy a new plane. At the same time some airlines are doing much better; having regular internet access would help.

One strategy that looks doable would be to leave the most expensive aircraft possible, order a prop plane or two, then when the first prop plane arrives sell the expensive jet and order more prop planes. I haven't tried this but have seen at least one player who has done this.

I would recommend joining as large as alliance as possible in S2 purely for the ratings bonus. There is no real competition because competition would destroy all involved.

2ndACR -> RE: Airline Empire AAR (6/17/2012 5:12:42 AM)

Heads UP........O2 is in restart and MB Global is now active.......Mitch Air and Seibenbergen are active in the US at start.

Orbit Airlines:

This little upstart has decided that he wants to spam every route that I am on out of LGB and ONT

He is flying 727-200s.

I sent him one note informing him that if he wants competition, he shall get it. I told him that I would run every route he has spammed me, into the red just to take his market share. And that I would hunt down every other route he may be on, and do the same.

I ended the note by including a famous quote from Bomber Harris:

"They that sow the wind, shall reap the whirlwind"

He promptly replied:

Sender: Orbit Airlines
Subject: Re: LGB & ONT
Date: 2012-06-17 12:26:13
Message: May the Battle Commence.
.............................

I would only offer that if he happens to jump anyone else's route, to show him no mercy.

Mobeer -> RE: Airline Empire AAR (6/18/2012 8:58:56 PM)

R2 has 10 767-200 in used pool
I will resist

I couldn't, and they are now mine; along with 5 brand new 747-300s

If it's the same Orbit leading in R5 it's not surprising. He's always spammed routes regardless of who you are. I learnt not to even bother talking to him anymore but just to treat him as an enemy straight up.

R5 - not too much to say on my world as 'trapped' in Turkey and just refreshing my constantly ageing fleet now. Settled for 3rd in the game.

DC Air -> RE: Airline Empire AAR (6/19/2012 6:14:00 PM)

O1

Hi guys I know you are busy battling in other worlds. Am ranked 2nd and I donīt think anybody can touch me. Not sure if I can get to No1 as he seems to be expanding as fast as me (if not faster)

Before you buy a new car, you should first make sure that it will be safe for you and to your family. There have been a lot of car that have been recalled because of a lot of defects either on the wheels or the steering wheel. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said earlier this week that it will be widening its probe into consumer-reported door fire hazards in some Toyota sedan and SUV styles. At first, just 830,000 vehicles were included in that probe. With the probe's expansion Monday, it could now cover up to 1.4 million. Are you trying to sell or buy a new or used automobile? If this relates to you, learn more on our websites at Brooklyn dealerships.

Buying a new car is very important, almost vital, if you are playing an airline simulation game

thanks for the tip fosterpeople

Phatguy -> RE: Airline Empire AAR (6/23/2012 12:05:41 PM)

Heh....I'm not clicking on a link but in theor, couldnt someone go after them if they are in the US and spamming?

And yes, people will flock to your spamming site...because we are all idiots! Good luck with that......

Phatguy -> RE: Airline Empire AAR (6/23/2012 12:15:57 PM)

Anyone else in a fight with another airline in O2?
Having a fun one with All Nippon Airways....... I knocked them down from 20 to 59. I took a tumble from 39 to 91 but its been good.....Knocked them from over 12k passengers down to 7.7k even with his 7 plane increase. I'm at 20K. Maybe im too aggressive in the early game? Should I pull back and share tokyo and Beijing with him? I'd probably expand faster but more might join in the feeding frenzy at those two airports. He has been here since the beginning so its not like hes a johnny-come-lately

At least he's not whining.....

Any thoughts?

2ndACR -> RE: Airline Empire AAR (6/23/2012 1:38:17 PM)

I feel too early for a fight, too many empty routes to be locked down........I would pull back some and expand into other airports for those routes. So far, everything is quiet here in the US on mine and Seibenbergen routes. I have some big solo controlled routes that I will fight for if invaded, but overall, it is really quiet.

Phatguy -> RE: Airline Empire AAR (6/23/2012 1:52:56 PM)

SO should I just pull back quietly or do you think I should extend an olive branch for now and offer to work with him on splitting the big routes and keeping everybody else out(except for us)?

Chijohnaok2 -> RE: Airline Empire AAR (6/23/2012 3:23:38 PM)

I would suggest reaching out and perhaps calling a truce on those routes that you already share.

If he is agreeable to that, then live with the truce/sharing the route, and look elsewhere for empty routes.

It is early in the game. You can go anywhere in the globe. I have had 2 routes where someone spammed onto my route. One went over demand, and i simply undercut fares. On the other I added enough flights to max out the route demand, and moved onto the next route.

As 2ndACR mentioned, this early in the game, there are good empty routes everywhere. Take what you can, establish routes, then move onto the next one.
Flying an uncontested route will generate maximum income (thus allowing further growth and expansion).
Contesting with another for a route will mean reduced income, and impede the rate of growth for your airline.

Do the math.
To me, the course of action is obvious.

Chijohnaok2 -> RE: Airline Empire AAR (6/24/2012 1:00:28 AM)

O2 update:

The MB GLobal Alliance currently has 3 of its members in the top 5 rankings (2,3 & 5); 5 in the top 25 (2,3,5, 16 & 25).

Additionally, it is the 2nd ranked alliance in the O2 world.

This should be considered an achievement (both individually and for the alliance) considering that the top ranked alliance has 48 member airlines, while the MB Global alliance has but 13.

If anyone should be interested in the game, you can find out more at:
www.airline-empires.com/

if you are interested in playing the game, and joining the alliance, please send a PM to either myself or to 2ndACR.

Mobeer -> RE: Airline Empire AAR (7/12/2012 9:15:46 PM)

Finally looks like I am going to get regular internet access set up tomorrow. In celebration, have ordered lots of new planes in R2.

In other worlds, MEUS and Prism have been dumping new planes onto the used pool as soon as they arrive. Just too many planes, too little internet.

Mobeer -> RE: Airline Empire AAR (7/18/2012 9:42:02 PM)

Any one got any thoughts on S3:
http://www.airline-empires.com/index.php?/topic/13314-2-or-4-new-worlds-opening-this-weekend/

A, B, or C?

2ndACR -> RE: Airline Empire AAR (7/18/2012 11:06:58 PM)

I would prefer the Long World myself........I voted for 1955-2030........not sure if it will be real or open world.

Mitch Air is open for business in R0 world and MB Global is now in that world......1955-2030. Plenty of time to conquer the world.

Mobeer -> RE: Airline Empire AAR (7/19/2012 11:50:14 PM)

Going for:
S3C, Saudi Arabia (Ridayah)
R0, UK (Gatwick)

Chijohnaok2 -> RE: Airline Empire AAR (7/20/2012 3:00:20 AM)

S3 looked intriguing but I also love the idea of starting in 1955 (R0). I don't have enough time for existing airlines, so adding 2 more is a no-no.

Therefore I have started up in R0:
Based out of CLT.

Request sent to MB Global Alliance for membership.
