Just wondering if it is possible for ships to act in certain roles within a fleet? I realise in the ship designer I can designate things such as "point blank, All weapons" and so on, but I don't see anything there for protecting other ships. Sadly this means when I send an assault fleet with an admiral on a slow but well armed missle type ship all my other "flak" ships simply buzz off leaving my heavy hitters totally undefending, often resulting in losses that should not happen if the fleet were functioning properly.

So have I missed some commands and controls somewhere or is this something we really need added in?

Actually, I noticed something that now effects the way I design my fleets....if your different classes move at different speeds....then the faster ships will hit the enemy first.
Since I would prefer for my ships to hit at all the same time, I now design them to move at the same acceleration. Same thing if they have to turn before hypering out...the first ones to turn will be the first ones to arrive at the target.
