Schanilec -> LCU & Air Unit Abbreviations (2/23/2012 6:54:56 PM)

Are there any lists that have LCU & Air Unit Abbreviations? A lot of them I just cannot define.

pmelheck1 -> RE: LCU & Air Unit Abbreviations (2/23/2012 7:29:35 PM)

If I remember their was a table at the back of the manual. Otherwise let us know which ones your looking for the meaning of.

Schanilec -> RE: LCU & Air Unit Abbreviations (2/24/2012 6:54:56 PM)

Oh say an engineering unit for exmaple 'EAB', an RAF Hurricane unit 'Trop.' or a IJA LCU 'RTA'. I know those. But there are a lot of others I just can't figure out. It's not important. I'm just really, really curious.

Sardaukar -> RE: LCU & Air Unit Abbreviations (2/24/2012 7:38:34 PM)

EAB = Engineer Aviation Battalion (construction engineers)
Trop. = Tropical

For use in North Africa the Hawker Hurricane Mk IIB (and other variants) were tropicalised. They were fitted with Vokes and Rolls Royce engine dust filters and the pilots were issued with a desert survival kit, including a bottle of water behind the cockpit

RTA = Royal Thai Army

Schanilec -> RE: LCU & Air Unit Abbreviations (2/24/2012 9:11:10 PM)

Yes, I got those. But there are many more abbreivations on many other indivual units and squadrons. I was hopiing that there maybe some sort of list that has been compiled.

No list that I'm aware of. [:(]

Here are the US Army and Marine LCU abbreviations that may not be self-explanatory:

(Hrse) = Horse cavalry regiment. Restricted to the West Coast
Merrills Marauders = popular name of the 5307th Composite Unit (provisional), a light infantry long range penetration special operations unit that fought in Burma. Later converts to the 475th Infantry Regiment
SeaBees = the popular name for Naval Construction Battalions (CBs = SeaBees). Naval Construction Regiments are x3 CBs in a single LCU.
(Sep)= Separate; usually an independent regiment, not part of a Division
(Spec)= Special. A division or regiment with a unique TO&E. Ex. 1st Cavalry (Spec) Division
Specl Svc= 1st Special Service Force, a regimental-sized commando-type unit that served briefly in the Aleutians
TD= Tank Destroyer

Any in particular that puzzle you?

Schanilec -> RE: LCU & Air Unit Abbreviations (2/27/2012 4:07:48 PM)

CPNAB was one I just couldn't figure out. I'll try make a list as they appear. BOHICA. I know that one. It happens every time I fill at the pump.
And I believe RTA is Royal Thai Army.

Thanks guys.

The M/W for the 8th RAF M/W still somewhat a mystery, eh?

Anything on the IJA units?

But hey thanks for the others. Sure helps me with the bells and whistles within the game.
I'm sure I'll find some more as time goes along.

Again thanks all.

Don't know the correct answer, but the natural assumption would be that M/W stands for Maintenance and Workshop.
