hades1001 -> DaBigBabes Scene (2/24/2012 3:32:08 PM)

Hi I and my friend are looking into starting a DaBigBabes game but we are wondering is there a DaBigBabes Scene that is equivalent to the Scene 2 in stock game?

Thanks!

Dan Nichols -> RE: DaBigBabes Scene (2/24/2012 5:20:07 PM)

Not as far as I know. The A and B versions are basically scenario 1 and the C version is scenario 1 with reduced cargo capacity. You could modify one of them to suit your needs.

Sardaukar -> RE: DaBigBabes Scene (2/24/2012 5:58:25 PM)

DaBabes tries to increase realism, thus "enhanced Japan" scenarios are bit out of the original scope.

bush -> RE: DaBigBabes Scene (2/25/2012 1:46:50 AM)

Can the C version be played against the AI?

Sardaukar -> RE: DaBigBabes Scene (2/25/2012 12:14:09 PM)

I'd not go vs. AI with C-version. Even A-version only works vs. IJ AI. AI just is not made for dealing with these extras.

OTOH, DaBabesLite works fine for either side vs. AI.

gradenko2k -> RE: DaBigBabes Scene (2/25/2012 5:03:23 PM)

What's the difference between DaBabes and the Lite version again? Lite JUST has the extra ships, but no changes to flak, bombs, the map and stacking limits?

BabesLite has extra ships and stuff, AND the AAA, Bombs, ASW, etc. It's simply Scen 01, more thoughtfully presented, to work with the AI as an alternative to the usual scen 01 kinda stuff. BabesLite has all the "DATA" changes for Babes scenarios and will give you the 'Babes' feel, but works with the standard AI. BabesLite is designed to be played by regular folks, under regular conditions, using Babes 'data' to make things smoother.

DaBigBabes is way off the radar screen. The same nominal 'data' is there, but there's a huge amount of differentiation about how that 'data' is used. DaBigBabes is a different kind of game, developed for a different kind of people.

JWE,

I am strictly an AFB vs, Jap AI player. Which version would you suggest?

Thanks,

Mike

The closest you'll come to an 'enhanced Japan' that is Babes related is Reluctant Admiral. Its template is the C variant.

Ah! Good to know, I have not been keeping up with your Scen, I have to check it. [8D]

Numdydar -> RE: DaBigBabes Scene (2/27/2012 2:18:06 AM)

So if I wanted to play against the best AI Japan possible, would Ironman or DaBigBabes be best? Or the Reluctent Admiral?

gradenko2k -> RE: DaBigBabes Scene (2/27/2012 2:39:42 AM)

If I'm not mistaken, Ironman is the one scenario that actually modifies the AI to be more challenging, although a lot of the challenge also comes from the massive number of ahistorical goodies showered upon your opponent. Reluctant Admiral also buffs the Japanese, although in a manner that the devs have tried to keep historically plausible, while DaBigBabes Lite is simply compatible with the AI.

1. DaBigBabes should only be played between two human players.

2. Dababes, Ironman and Reluctant Admiral have different "toys" for both sides. They affect the flavour of play and what is possible and how it can be done. They don't improve the AI per se but in certain circumstances they make it easier for the AI to accomplish its scripted goals.

3. Do not expect any significant code changes for any official scenario. Only the guys who work on Don's Dababes family of mods have implemented significant code changes. In as much as the Reluctant Admiral has borrowed those code changes from the DaBabes family, it too benefits. Ironman is an official scenario.

4. All official scenarios have about a dozen different AI scripts. The "better" an official scenario appears to be to play against the AI is directly attributable to relative ratio of more agressive AI scripts being present within the dozen scripts. The Ironman has the most number of aggresive AI scripts for the AI to adopt.

There is no short answer as to whether one scenario to play against the AI is better than another.

John 3rd -> RE: DaBigBabes Scene (2/27/2012 7:09:11 AM)

Alfred is spot on with his commentary. Each Mod has its own unique flavor to sample.

RA thoroughly retools the IJN in all aspects: LBA, differing plane development, a changed 4th Circle Naval Building Plan, and some additional small LCU. The IJA is hardly touched. Should be fair and note there are additional toys for the Allied player as well. They are not as flashy but hold real value nonetheless.

Each of the three scenarios above have been researched and differing rationales applied. They are each a labor of love for their developers.

Sardaukar -> RE: DaBigBabes Scene (2/27/2012 10:08:39 AM)

To add, DaBigBabes A can be played vs. AI if playing Allies. I have found it perfectly playable that way.

JWE -> RE: DaBigBabes Scene (2/27/2012 6:30:51 PM)

There's a BigBabes version of Nik's Guadalcanal scenario coming up on the Babes website.

It's a small scenario (map, units and time) so might be interesting for people who want to see what the BigBabes fuss is all about. We re-wrote the basic AI, so it's playable like a regular stock AE game, by either side, but then there's all those BigBabes AEaster eggs hanging about, too.

Rusty1961 -> RE: DaBigBabes Scene (2/27/2012 7:11:34 PM)

Where do I get Scen. 28B?

Also, as an AFB, what differences are there and how will they affect (or should) my game play?

John -

Just checked for and found the Guad scenario at the Babes Website. Am very excited, have just downloaded and will give it a spin (H2H to make sure all the easter eggs are available!).

To make sure that I am on track, the Babes Guad Scenario uses a "stock" install of WitP AE? Just thought I had better ask..

Good Work, Gents! More later...

Edit: Stock of course!

Nice to see new additions being added to the site John.
