This game looks really nice and I confess I'm not familiar with it, other than having read some about it after seeing the announcement. I am very familiar with board games though, having spent a great deal of time with Avalon Hill titles and especially ASL.

Are individual officer counters depicted, as they were in ASL? I particularly enjoyed that part of SL/ASL.

In the board game, Command & Control is handled by AP's (Action Points) & CAP's (Command Action Points). There are no officer units.

Ah, okay. Thanks for the info.

Mad Russian and I were talking about this game and the turn off for him, and I suppose a lot of hard core gamers, is the lack of leaders.

Over at BGG I found this link to optional rules to add leaders to the board game.

Will this be possible with the computer game?

This is from the above linked pdf

quote:

I. Introduction:

One of the charms of the COH rules system is
how it balances simplicity with realism. It abstracts
the tactical proficiency of different armies into
Command Action Points ("CAPS") and the assorted
costs of different actions based upon the units
executing them. By doing so, it avoids clogging up the
rules with additional complexity. The use of CAPS
eliminates the need for "Leaders" that are present in
virtually every other tactical system (such as ASL,
ATS, and Combat Commander). Players who like this
simplicity and have no desire to change the game will
probably not want to use these optional rules.
However, those who like the use of leaders and
believe that the CAP system oversimplifies things will
probably want to try these rules. They add some
additional "color" and "personality" to the game and
an additional dose of flexibility.

Hi guys,

Leaders are not separate counters, but they are represents through Command Action Points, that determine where you want your leader(s) to focus their attention, and through some of the special action cards. The system works very well IMHO as a model of command and combat.
