After War in the East Don to Danube with a plenty of short scenarios to play I guess why you don't make something like that for this fantastic game.

Shorter scenarios focused on an battle (Midway) or a paricular campaign (Burma) whould be very welcomed for me as are more easily playable and fun than the long resting grand campaign.

You could add a later starded camp (before Coral Sea) and the pack will be super!

What do you think about that Guys?

Admiral's Edition is basically an expansion to the original WITP. There have been several user created scenarios that you can download - many of these created by members of the team which created AE. Check the scenario sub-forum.

jmalter -> RE: Expansions, why not? (3/2/2012 8:39:42 AM)

there's already plenty 'short' scenarios included in this game, of various lengths, available for 'learning' (single-player vs. AI) or PBEM. they generally use a smaller map-area than the full-boat GC scenarios.

paulopanz -> RE: Expansions, why not? (3/2/2012 12:03:30 PM)

Oh yes I have Uncommom Valor and WITP, too.

I don't post in forum but play matrix games from its very first realises.

There were several very good scenarios and campaigns (as that with 1942 start) in previous games of the serie never ported to Admiral's edition.

This game has some (few) short scenarios little implemented with some user made ones included in later patches.

Some others are here to D/L but some are only for BPEM and some others are unfinished or in beta testing.

So I'ld like to say that I'll be happy to pay for a good expansion full of new shorter scenarios more easy and fun to play (for me) than a serie of bigger and bigger daunting campaigns.

In fact I often prefer to play still uncommom valour!

Bye and thanks of our attention.

Paul

I still hope for an April or Mai 1942 scenario.
I hate the inital phase on the Japanese side and would love to start there... [;)]

@Historiker: i'm with You.

@Puhis: Sure I'ld like. But it's only PBEM and not finished up (as far I know).

Nice!

Alfred -> RE: Expansions, why not? (3/2/2012 5:54:14 PM)

The developers who joined together to form Henderson Field Design to create AE, dispersed quite csome time ago. There will be no more official scenarios created.

There are unofficial scenarios which have been and which are being developed currently. A few of these scenarios are produced by some of the original members of Henderson Field Design.

All those who continue to request new official scenarios or ongoing code development are going to be disappointed because that is not going to happen. Any future game product development will be unofficial and largely based on the work of the team that produces the unofficial DaBabes family of mods.

The game is great as it is...plenty of scenarios. My wish down the road if any would be an entire WW2 game with this engine...highly unlikely, but a guy can wish!

We need a WitP 2. New interface. On map combat/intel reports like Bodhi's utility. Better tf creation and control. Streamline a few things.

I got it all right here in my head.

paulopanz -> RE: Expansions, why not? (3/2/2012 11:01:01 PM)

I didn't know that. [8|]

And a few more items such as replacing steel and duralumin instead of HI points,
the abilty to choose what ships to lay down based on available slots

gun accuracy based on ammo supply instead of ROF
changing the AC research system

PacWar --> UV --> WITP --> WITP:AE --> WITP2 --> .... etc [8D]

keeps on improving

Crimguy -> RE: Expansions, why not? (3/2/2012 11:50:08 PM)

I'd just like some simple changes:
Less abstracted repair facilities - in this age we should be able to visually see the dry-docks for PH dontcha think?
Convoy route creator.
Have the game give feedback so you can see if your convoy route will adequately supply a port based on current output and supply chain.
Pilot training programs that actually make some sense (I just read people are putting pilots in Catelinas to build up their levels? That's a bit nuts).
Built-in operation planner - so the game can help you find appropriate troops and ships to conduct an invasion, then earmark those units for the operation.
Just a few ideas that have been tossed around here in the past. I think its a shame that, with a game as complicated as this, we are forced to use 3rd party tools to get a lot of the things done that should be doable in-game.

Commander Stormwolf -> RE: Expansions, why not? (3/3/2012 3:29:22 AM)

oh, one more thing about the 1942 Scenario - need to update the AC production
use the numbers for AC produced during April 1942, right now it is the same as Dec 1941
otherwise it's pretty good, it should be included with the stock install (there was a '42 scen in WITP vanilla)

Hmmm... I thought that aircraft production numbers were not based upon Dec 1941 or any single month, but rather were a monthly average for all the production of a particular aircraft type.

drw61 -> RE: Expansions, why not? (3/3/2012 12:11:54 PM)

I'm not sure that WitP 2 is in the works,(at least anytime soon) take a look at this thread from Joel Billings. [&:]

Well the japanese ones are based on the instantaneous monthly --> in Scenario 1 Japanese AC production is based on the Nov 41 encyclopedia numbers
(56 x A6M2, 27 x E13, 23 x Ki-21, 25 x G4M, 45 x Ki-27, 32 x Ki-43) etc

These need to be updated to the April 42 numbers

Why? This would give Japanese ahistorical production in Dec 41. Human Japanese player can expand factories and AI will never run out of planes anyway.
