PS Pita -> Road to Minsk as German (3/3/2012 8:37:37 PM)

I know it has been discussed and that many have claimed to beat it playing as German long
ago when the game first came out and I've read descriptions and seen how they've
achieved total victories in the screen shots they provided in this forum but I just can't do it.
Even using their approach as I always get a decisive defeat!

I can't see how they could have so many enemy units off the map and still have all those movement points
to get all the way to the end of the map and cover all the VP locations within the second turn.
(Maybe they're using the editor.)

I had all my tanks and armored vehicles at Minsk on the first turn, had hexes surrounding it cleared, city bomb it, attacked it repeatedly, sent out supplies to my units, kept airbases and HQs close by did this as many times as I could and they held at minsk no matter what, I cleared a pocket, I took and held those VP locations
in the front line from turn one and for some reason at the end of the battle received 0 points as if I had not cleared and held them.
Yes, I leapfrogged and used infantry to create the pocket and routed and surrender the enemy and rushed my tanks AVs out Minsk. I used mostly hasty attacks to save points. All to no avail.

In short, what gives? What are your setting what? What version or mods are you using and what more can I do
to get more MPs for my units on this map?

I don't even want to attempt any of the other senerios until I beat this one
as Axis. But either victory is BS on this one or I am missing something major despite having read the manual.

I have not played that scenario in a few versions - so things may be drastically different now.

The first trick is to head east as far and fast as possible with everyone - pocketing is all fine and dandy, but to win the scenario you will need your infantry as far east as possible - so pocket and then assault the cutoff Soviets. They will not be isolated and thus able to fight better and rout out of the pocket, but you will be able to get the infantry farther east that way. Also note that you can form the Bialystok pocket with almost no motorized troops at all - so the motorized troops can be running towards Vitebsk and Mogilev - the secondary pocket from Minsk will only slow down your Panzer forces.

Try that and see if it helps.
