1st Sgt Tnic -> Naval Transport Movement (3/7/2012 7:02:45 AM)

This is driving me nuts!

SCENARIO: Italy 43

I'm obviously missing something here. A few turns earlier I moved an armored Div (5th CD) by ship to save another unit from near extinction.

-I learned quickly that my ships can only handle one Tank Rgmt. at a time. So there's a "load limit" and I can't move an entire ID together, someone needs to follow next turn or next trip. No prob, I get that.

-I also notice that it seems a unit needs to occupy an anchorage for one turn before they can embark. I get that too.

Now I want to jump aboard my ships to capture the Supply Source at Anzio and begin the assault on Rome BEFORE all the Nazis in Italy stream into Rome to protect.

PROBLEM! The same CD Armor I moved earlier can't board a ship now! In fact NONE of the Armor I have in anchorages for that purpose will board ship.! Kinda hard to attack without some tanks to hit their hard targets like all the heavy weapons in place.

I read the Scenario description several times, but didn't see anything about special ship rules. What am I missing, mates?

Thanks

a) Check if you already used the seaborne transport limit per turn.
b) What about the weight of the whole armoured division?
c) Did you embark/disembark, then move, then tried to embark/disembark the same turn?

Aha! Face palm on me!

Uh, yeah. I kinda did. I was checking out the "new toy" and didn't realize it was counting against me each time.

I think I'll go back a couple turns and try again.

Also, when you select a unit (as shown in the inset) some buttons may appear to the right (circled in red). Waving the mouse pointer over the button will result in the display seen at the bottom of the screen. In this case, waving the mouse over the 'board ship' button while the unit is selected will show that the unit will require 420 of the 4000 available.

This shot only displays 2 buttons, one for Sea Transport and one for Rail Transport, but there is a third one for Airlift. If a unit is not eligible for sea, air or rail, the corresponding button will not be available.

Thanks mate. I did some experimenting and found those features last night. I'm also getting in the habit of checking the sit rep too, but hovering the buttons is one less click in this clickorama game.

I wound up starting from the beginning again to try and run through this scenario. At turn 12 I have their two battle area supply points captured and defended while I stay fully charged. I'm keeping control of all my anchorages around Salerno and gaining a foothold around Napoli by shipping troops north of it and coming down to keep the enemy busy and slowly starving them out.

By turn 35-4- I want to capture Anzio (supply source near Rome) by sea lift and control those anchorages.

Nein, looks more like a Britsh Warrior Schuetzenpanzer :)

Hey - that would look good in Sunday's South Boston Irish Parade :))

Don't know what type it is. It got posted in another forum, some time ago when we were having discussions about murses (man purses), AKA European Shoulder Bags.

Here's two psychedelic tanks at the War museum in Kiev. Think "Partridge Family" bus.

The pic doesn't do them justice, but they are def Rainbow panzers.
