"Phantom" by Thomas Tessier, a good and very underrated horror writer (and an underrated writer in a general sense). His "The Fates" was like an early John Carpenter's movie on paper. This one is about a boy's night terrors that can or maybe cannot be the symptom of a neurological disorder. What if the "things you know are in the dark" when you are a kid are there for real? I've gotten around to re-reading about the military history of Ireland. I first read the book back in the '90s and just thought it would be nice to get back into it. I do confess a bit of bafflement at pronouncing the Gaelic family and place names, but it s a good read nonetheless. Irish Battles: A Military History of Ireland

I'm always reading some romance novel, but currently, I have decided to reread my Dune series. Currently reading Mentats of Dune. Next is Navigators of Dune. Then the prequel trilogy series Houses of Dune, before landing in the original novel Dune itself. I'm also re reading my Shannara saga as well. A LOT of books on the read list between Dune and Shannara. I might be finished before 2030 :)

"Psychology and the Occult" by C.G. Jung - my daughter's Christmas gift. Quite "technical" and heavy on psycho-parlance, but riveting.

I will do so when I've finished this book.

The Fleet at Flood Tide: America at Total War in the Pacific, 1944-1945 by James D. Hornfischer. One of the best books I've read on the PacWar, highly recommended. Cheers

Osprey have brought out a number of good books recently. Just purchased The Balkans 1940-41 (1). I presume this is the first of two titles - although they may split Yugoslavia and Greece/Crete into two. Like Norway (and not for entirely different reasons [:(]), Greece is such an interesting campaign of World War II. Edit: Just seen that Yugoslavia and Greece will be covered in one book. Anna Burns The Milkman. Possibly the best book I have read about life in N Ireland in the late 70s/early 80s, in places really very disturbing about the nasty realities

Soviet Military Deception in the Second World War by David Glantz. As with all his work incredible research and well written. I'm on the first chapter dealing with a specific action, the winter counter attacks at Moscow. The German intelligence maps and reports of what they thought they were facing vs actual Soviet force dispositions on those dates are surprising.
