andym -> Close Combat series (3/24/2012 7:27:29 PM)
I have played both the Highway to Hell and the Market garden one, both real time games.I wasnt too taken with then. However i have seen a shed load of vids of the Close Combat games and i rather like seeing little men running all over the joint.I enjoy BOTH WW2 and Modern era stuff.I am warming towards the Modern Tactics game but is it the same as the other CC games as i see its derived from another game/sim?I rather like the idea of modern combat in the middle east but i would rather have a game that played mainly in the BAOR theater with NATO v the Soviet Block.I did hear of a mod for this but cant find ANY further refs on the CC boards.Looking at the WW2 ones, can anyone suggest a good starter one that also has longevity of play. The Market Garden one interests me but wont it be a bit too limiting given the short historical time it took to do the thing.Any advice greatly recieved.

I've got CoI, WaR, tLD, LSA, and Modern tactics.
Modern is the most labour-intensive, with scenarios that are hypothetical or OPFOR type engagements.
Crew-served weapons are extremely fragile.
Getting your infantry to press an attack can be very frustrating, even with elite troops.
