Hey guys,

Just a quick question, do the number of escorts in a TF have an effect on ASW?

i.e will a TF escorted by 8 DD's have a better chance of fending off sub attackes than one defended by 1 or 2?

More DDs present more targets away from your other presumably more valuable ships.

You will not get all 8 DDs to participate in an attack. Usually only 1-3 escorts will prosecute an attack. However having 8 DDs means that if the TF is subsequently again attacked by enemy subs, you will have fresh DDs with 100% of the DCs available to prosecute the attack.

Alfred is right. But even one escort is tons better than none. This is pretty much all the Allied have in early 42, but a lone escort does help.
