Been playing about 3 days. Things are finally starting to come together.
Redmarkus posts have helped tremendously.[&o] This is really an awesome game!
Bought Conflict of Heroes also a great game learned that in about 10 minutes.
When I have about 1/2 hour to play I will play COH. When I have a few hours and
really want to get into some serious "Combined Armed Action" This fills the bill!

If you take some time to learn you will be rewarded.

I hope PrinceP didn't give up. I looked at it like peeling the layers of an onion and finding all this cool stuff underneath as I fumbled around with the game. Even their sister game Steel Armor, which features FPS controls that are very lifelike. I never do fps, but still enjoy the little touches they've put in the game. And these guys are Russians that are putting some of our sim developers to shame.

ROSSEAU, should you see this, I will answer your query from the previous page. Yes, I did give up. I gave up by never opening the game and deciding to go with Conflict of Heros. Some have expressed dismay that one would abandon one's efforts to learn this game....I cannot agree. I am a man of limited gaming time, and simply choose to avoid the time investment to learn the game controls that Operation Star requires. I am patient enough to do that as I have long ago mastered Advanced Squad Leader and some "intense" computer games with slower than normal learning curves. But in those games, it was not mastering the controls that took time, it was mastering optimal tactical/strategic actions within the game. The controls were straightfoward, intuitive and the rules accessable and understandable. However, it galls me in the extreme to spend a lot of time just trying to master the game controls, as opposed to the game itself. It is clear from the postings that this would be the case here.

It is too bad as I really am interested in the subject matter of the game. Oh well, on to Conflict of Heros. I hope those of you that did master Operation Star's control enjoy it immensely. However, from the dirth of postings and AARs, it is clearly the exception rather than the rule. For me, Operation Star will be a dust collector.

Its pretty easy to figure out tactics/strategic actions. Its pretty straightforward in this game, pretty basic.

I'm in the same boat as far as gaming time is concerned. I never know when or how long my gaming sessions will be. When i know i won't have much time i choose to play Battle Academy, Combat Command, Frozen Synapse and right now when i know i will have extended time i'm playing and learning this game. The first time i tried the demo, played for an hour and uninstalled it. Figured that was an hour i couldnt get back.but i watched the forums here and at graviteam and read some AAR's and watched some utube stuff and it looked cool as hell. I bought the first one and the rest is history. The manual and documentation flat out sucks, there's alot of stuff not explained very well. The base controls aren't really that hard to learn and your up and running pretty quick...quicker than i anticipated originally. There are some really cool gaming moments to be found here...I have my troops marching up to a position to defend an area, I hear this faint sound that keeps getting louder , i pan around and here comes some Russian bi-planes out of the sky bombing my troops, that made me laugh. All i'm saying is that i hope you'll find some time to give this game an honest chance there some fine gaming in there, read the redmarkus threads they have been really helpful for me to dig a little deeper in to the game. For me "the juice is worth the squeeze" . Take care.
