moose1999 -> No "Units out of command" overlay? (4/1/2012 12:28:20 PM)

Having learned how important it is for units to be in range of their corps HQ in this game, I spend a significant amount of time each turn checking for this.
I use the commanders report or click from corps HQ to corps HQ on the map to check for this - but both methods are quite time-consuming.
There are so many nice overlays in this game, so it surprises me that there is no button you can push to outline all units that are out of command range of their corps HQ - considering how central this feature is to the gameplay.
It would be really nice to have...!

Different strokes I guess: I just click on DtHQ and work the list from the top down; an overlay would just slow me down.

Maybe you are not using the Commanders Report in the right way? It's pretty easy to identify all units out of Command Range and selet the units.

Open Commanders Report (Clear all filters if a filter is set)
Select Nation: Germany
Select Unit Size: Division
Select HQ Range: Out of Rng

Select the Location hex coordinate of the unit you want to handle. Go back to Commanders Report for next unit.
I don't need more than 30 seconds to correct my unit command ranges. But I usually move all units of a corps "together" so there aren't many units out of range at the turns end.

Hadn't seen the Out of Rng filter - that will come in handy.
Thanks!

You do know of the ~ command don't you? It will at least tell you which subordinate units are out of HQ range (i.e. selecting a corps HQ it will show you the different colors red =out of range, blue = in range - with a nice line going to each corps level unit attached to it.) Same goes for all other HQ's.

Thats how that is done! That has bugged me for months! Thanks sajer!

Still, an overlay like refit, reserve, etc... for units out of command would be so easy and much quicker than through the commanders report...

Yeah, thats a nice tool too.
Unfortunately it slows down my game so much that I don't like using it.
Must still agree with some of the others here, that a simple overlay like for out-of-supply would be really nice...! :-)
