janh -> The Kirishi phenomenon -- Soviets "beaming" into isolated prison camp (4/13/2012 11:46:29 AM)

Kirishi, X86 Y19
Difficulty 100:110% across all settings, the usual FoW etc.

Between mid March 42 to late May 42, I used 4. and 3. Panzerarmee in conjunction with 18., 16. and 9. Army to create two large pockets north of German held Moscow, netting more than 750k Soviets after 2 months of strenuous fighting interrupted occasionally by mud. However, one spot in the Kirishi-Nebulochi-Valdai double-pocket is still very much in Soviet control: Kirishi, and a few hexes around. Ladoga and environs are competely under Finnish control.

Seems there may be an issue with Soviet AI somehow being able to reach as well as supply Kirishi despite it being isolated for weeks about 5hex behind the German MBTL now. I can't see any airbase unit in there, nor would the Red Army be able airlift in 6 apparently well-equipped divisions into that area in a week by April 42, with 2 hexes even in full supply.

I had seen this happening already in a few turns since mid April, but I redid those to better seal off the city and be able to continue the game until the next patch (1.06.06, for which Gary looked at some AI "cheating" rules that didn't work as intended). However, whenever I leave a free spot around Kirishi, AI sends units in. Kirishi is off and on on full supply.

I'll attach a few saves (not zipped, just renamed -- sorry for the mistake typo here!) and screenshots to show... Is it a bug, or did I miss something?

Turn after, #49, 5/21/1942

I'll take a look at the saves, hopefully today.

What does the file in these .zips represent? I just get a 90MB file without proper name or extension out of these .zips.

In this case just rename it from .zip to .sav and then you can open it in WitE.

I can repeat this issue and added it to the bug list as BG0059.
