Thanks warspite. 1888 huh? Iowa played its first college football game in 1889. I was wondering what is England's biggest rival? Germany? France? Spain?
Warspite1

In theory its Scotland for obvious reasons. In reality, Scotland see us as their biggest rival, but we probably see Germany as being ours. I think losing to anyone is painful but Germany, France and Scotland have to be the worst countries to lose to.

So how does US football work? Don't you have franchises or something? When you say Iowa, is this the same club?

Professional teams are franchises, What we banter about here (Ohio State, Iowa, University of Tennessee) are college teams - so-called amateurs (haha).

San Diego Chargers, Cleveland Browns, etc. are pro teams. We don't have the different strata of pro teams like you guys. Well, we do, but they're for sh1t, IMHO.

Edited for Rogo. Sorry, dude!

I watch professional football but I LOVE college football . Right now there are 120 teams that compete for a single national championship. Nate25 and I like teams in the same conference and there are ten conferences which make up what is called the fbs or div 1-A. There are two state universities in Iowa. Iowa university and Iowa state. Nate comes from a much larger state population wise so Ohio has I think eight universities

Well I admire Fouts too. But that is no excuse for calling the Chargers a "team".[:D]

If they only had a defense back then....as a kid the baby blues and lighting bolts got me. My dreams where crushed when they lost the Super Bowl to the 49ers.
