I haven't seen any Hidden Factions and looked around on the internet but didn't find anything on it. Can anyone elaborate for me please? Thanks.

and I am not talking about the Shakturi, I know all about them but I haven't seen any hidden faction in Legends. Is there some kind of way to activate them or something>

Apparently these guys don't know either, and sorry neither do I. Unless the Shakturi are the "hidden" faction.

As for Securan Pirates, never saw them, nor human pirates for that manner.

So you are saying that no one knows what the hidden faction is? How could that be? Or was it some joke that there is a hidden faction?

I've heard they can be attracted by deploying a special tech that blasts Funky Town throughout the whole known galaxy.

They may also bring cake, and be the heralds of all things delicious, but that's highly speculatory as of yet.

Blackrain do you have the game and can't find or trip any "hidden" factions? Or are you just interested in what that faction is and do not have the game/expansions?

And no I am not trying to mess with you here. I was actually looking at who all was responding to you and wondering why none of the older crowd that i have seen/read and interacted with here has chimed in.

Not that # of posts is indicative of how knowledge able a person is who is posting,but its interesting to look at anyway.

Ok BlackRain. You wanted serious answer, than I will provide You with one. But serious do not mean right - I may be wrong afther all. So in my opinion, this secret faction are simply legendary pirates which You may occasionaly find. That is the only thing I can think about. If there is other secret faction than I do not know nothing about this.

Erm BlackRain, I think most of the answers have been tongue-in-cheek because
a) a gentle bit of fun is considered a standard tone around here, and is CERTAINLY not meant to be "unkind". These were not "trolling" posts, but gentle play.
b) Most people here will be very wary of spoilers. You might want to ask elsewhere or for PMs if there are spoilers involved.
c) Your question was not phrased optimally and invites a gentle form of play. Instead of asking: "Is there actually a secret faction?", you asked for names. What if there IS no "secret" faction?

There are spoiler boxes for that very reason, so that people who don't want to see spoilers won't have to. I want to see what it is. In the product description for Distant worlds Legends, it lists a "Hidden Faction" so there must be a hidden faction unless the company is lying about it. So I saw no need to ask if there is a hidden faction when it is explicitly listed as such. I have been trying to find it but haven't yet after many hours so I am getting frustrated.

This is what it says under features for Distant worlds: Legends:

•New character system, including Leaders, Admirals, Generals, Ambassadors, Governors, Agents and Scientists, all with defined skills and traits and the opportunity to advance and improve
•New modelling of borders and spheres of influence
•New expanded gameplay with race-specific events and victory conditions, as well as a new hidden faction!
•Expanded technology tree, including dedicated carriers, cutting lasers, rail guns, new planetary facilities and wonders
•Improved AI and an updated Diplomacy system with refuelling and mining rights as well as immigration policies

I have never seen that new faction...

It cant be the Shakturi, neither the Shakturi with that new name (after you trigger that beacon), so I have no idea what it is.

Cant see them either on the game editor...

Just checked the game files, no racial pictures or script files for a hidden faction...no ship sets either...

Well I guess the cat's out of the bag now. Though I was sure it was 750 years, at least that's how far I had to get to ever see them.

The faction is hard coded. You wont see them in the config files.

The hidden faction is indeed the legendary pirates, who can be as strong as a small empire. They were not announced before release and some of the posts from players running into them (and at times the Silvermist at the same time) make for some good reading. [8D]
