I spent weeks building the turn and was nearly finished when these updates came out, so I was like "Oh, Noes!!"

Something that might save you from frustration in the future.

Pick the scenario you want to use. Load it into the editor and then “Save Scenario As…” some other number greater than 25. If you are dinking with Scen02, then save it as Scen42, put a name in the Comment field like, “Hakko Treetop”, or something. Be sure to also copy the aei002-(01 to 16).dat files to aie042-(1 to 16).dat. The editor won’t do it for you, it will copy (rename) only the top level aei002.dat file.

Now you have Scen42 that is identical to Scen02, but does not have the restrictions that are imposed on Scens01 – 25. Now you can update it just like you can do with a mod.

I keep the regular stock cenarios in a renamed 'Scen - Matrix' folder for reference and back-up, but the game's SCEN folder contains
Scen41_War in the Pacific_The Full Campaign
Scen42_War in the Pacific_Hakko Ichiu
Scen43_The Battle of the Coral Sea
Scen44_Guadalcanal
Scen45_The Thousand-Mile War
Scen46_December 8_The Full Campaign
.
.
and so on.

This makes it very easy to update things for any errors that crop up, as well as capture systematic changes like the AAA and ASW things. Very easy to also add things like AndyMac's updates. A good way to proceed if you play the AI. If you play H2H or PBEM, all that's required is trust between the players that nobody is gonna sneak something in (or out).

I lol'ed at "Hakko Treetop" [:D]

Thanks for the tip.

PizzaMan -> RE: Updates for Stock Scenarios (5/18/2012 6:19:47 AM)

I am eager to restart. Thanks for the stock updates.

JWE -> RE: Updates for Stock Scenarios (5/21/2012 7:46:57 PM)

Just added; updated version of Scen05 The Thousand-Mile War.

mikkey -> RE: Updates for Stock Scenarios (5/21/2012 10:15:12 PM)

nice, thanks for new updated scenario, JWE

JWE -> RE: Updates for Stock Scenarios (5/23/2012 4:08:32 PM)

Just added; updated version of Scen14 Downfall_The End.

It has all the systematic updates and then AndyMac added his, blue-painted, kilt-wearing, lightning bolts shooting of their arse, Scottish evilness on top of them. [;)]

Califvol -> RE: Updates for Stock Scenarios (5/26/2012 5:12:29 PM)

Is there going to be an update along these lines for the Iron Man (Scen 10)?

Thanks.

Andy Mac -> RE: Updates for Stock Scenarios (5/26/2012 5:54:30 PM)

Ironman is harder to update because I changed some ratings of some devices as part of the making Japan tougher process so its not straightforward to update that one

I think the Dorniers have torpedoes with accuracy of 10000%. at least they never miss my ships. [:D]

Califvol -> RE: Updates for Stock Scenarios (5/27/2012 6:23:50 AM)

Ok, got it, thanks anyway.

Califvol -> RE: Updates for Stock Scenarios (6/10/2012 1:14:41 AM)

I have been playing the updates for sometime now (Scen 002). This plays a lot more fun, well for me anyway.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR EFFORTS.

pharmy -> RE: Updates for Stock Scenarios (6/11/2012 8:52:19 AM)

It makes port, naval, and night strikes so much more dangerous for the attacker. Why even Japanese AA has some effect, and Japanese naval TF AA from their DPs is awesome. Flak kills go up slightly but main effect is that it reduces the effectiveness of attacks while under heavy flak. Removes the need for any HR regarding 4 E / night attacks / naval strikes below xxx.

Thank you

JWE -> RE: Updates for Stock Scenarios (6/16/2012 8:43:08 PM)

Scen03_The Battle of the Coral Sea.

mikkey -> RE: Updates for Stock Scenarios (6/16/2012 10:34:16 PM)

I had downloaded these some time ago, lost them in an OS reinstall, and was wondering where they have gone ...

Could they all be re-posted please

I have a similar need to Damian's. I've been scouring the forum to find the updated "stock" files (ie those with the DaBabes family of tweeks to ASW, AAA etc). Definitely can't spot them on the DaBabes site. What I have found is this.

http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3198064

These were posted by Andy Mac as being a beta for the beta 7 patch.

Am I correct in interpreting the situation to be that

(a) the official patch 6 download does not fully update the official scenarios to the DaBabes family standards

(b) there is no longer available separately updated "stock" files for official patch 6

(c) the above updated files from Andy Mac, even though they are described as being for use with beta patch 7, can be used with the official patch 6

For those of you wondering why I am adopting this dinosaur approach, the reason is that I know I can download DaBabes Lite A and get all the tweaked benefits but I also need to have the official scenarios in order to properly research my answers to newbie questions. I suspect Damian may have a similar reason.

Alfred

Symon -> RE: Updates for Stock Scenarios (2/17/2013 1:58:09 PM)

Yes. Interpretations are correct. They were taken down from Babes site because the ones Andy posted have all the new AI files and have been magically 'stamped' to replace/update existing scenarios in the "official" file space. Didn't make sense to have something different on the Babes site.

Andy's AI fiddling seems to have stabilized so maybe I can put Andy's stamped versions up on the site. In the meantime, the ones in Alfred's link are the right ones. Basically the dat files that were on the Babes site plus all the new AI with each scenario wrapped up in an installer. They will work just fine with patch 6 and any subsequent beta.
