4.Tottenham (the "team of Kane", the most famous english player here)

warspite1

I can't think why. All he does is score penalties against rubbish teams - having dived to win the penalties in the first place. And he can't speak properly.....

...or at least that is the 'considered view' of Neanderthal "football fans" in this country.

Piteas -> RE: All things Football (soccer) related (3/12/2019 7:35:31 PM)

He was a target for the Real in january. But Tottenham asked 350 millions (euros). A price too expensive, even for a Real without forwards.

He has a good fame in my country. Maybe this one is simple marketing, but it works for the people. Sell him cheap and so we check if he's so useless [;)]

are we allowed to mention rugby here? [8D]

I've consulted the manual and it says:

Extract from the manual for the All things Football (soccer) related forum:

Chapter 6

7(b)iii ...... if some Scottish smart arse mentions English Rugby in a derogatory manner (following a defeat by, or crappy draw with, Scotland) any post is to be removed by the moderators of the forum immediately.

warspite1 -> RE: All things Football (soccer) related (3/17/2019 5:56:14 PM)

Speaking of manuals and rule books, I wonder if anyone can assist. I am trying to find where, in the laws of the game, it says that Manchester City MUST be drawn against the weakest team remaining in any cup competition they contest. I can't find any such reference and yet the 'rule' appears to be carried out religiously.....

This is getting truly ridiculous.... [:@]

loki100 -> RE: All things Football (soccer) related (3/17/2019 6:48:10 PM)

aye, and then be give a non-existent penalty and an off-side goal just to help them on their way ...

Yes exactly. Every cup competition its the same.

Crossroads -> RE: All things Football (soccer) related (3/17/2019 7:48:01 PM)

I was joking obviously. But as for your question, I don't know, maybe the football gods blatantly support only the richest and the strongest, they must be some ancient gods in their bias. I used to expect Man U always getting the easiest route when they were at the top of their game, and sure enough, they always did.

warspite1

Sadly I wasn't - Spurs are, by some margin, the weakest team remaining.

Crossroads -> RE: All things Football (soccer) related (3/17/2019 8:33:27 PM)

The remaining eight are all fine teams in their right, with Ajax and Porto perhaps the ones that are the weakest, if that term can be used, then Man U and Spurs perhaps, but at one level higher. Then Juve and Liverpool, with Barca and City the likely finalists. My 0.02.

I've said it before. So why anyone is surprised eludes me. [&:]

Besides, who cares anyway. Football is a dumb game, that no sane adult would enjoy. [sm=nono.gif]

Bah!

loki100 -> RE: All things Football (soccer) related (3/21/2019 6:34:03 PM)

believe me, given the response of most people here to that farce, there is little an outsider can add. Its not just a bad defeat etc, it was the utterly inept manner of it.

but I have read at least one post by someone who seemed convinced it was but a combination of a couple of injuries and the pitch (I think the roof was mentioned to). My working assumption was that was by McLeish as its a pretty unique take on events.

Orm -> RE: All things Football (soccer) related (3/23/2019 7:10:26 PM)

Football is a quite brilliant idea actually. Thank you, England, for your contribution to the best sport ever.

shunwick -> RE: All things Football (soccer) related (3/30/2019 11:21:13 PM)

Well, we won another game at last. 2-0 at home to Gateshead... That was a good win and we played well....

And we got relegated....

Best wishes,
Steve

This week's oddities in Scottish football:

a) a Highland league game was briefly suspended while the referree threw up on the pitch;
b) another kicked off late as all the deer dung on the pitch had to be removed
c) in the Edinburgh derby a Hibs fan threw a (complete) coconut on the pitch - something I guess that was bounty happen at some stage (best said in an Edinburgh accent)

Oh and Brora have fallen away from the top now I'm no longer there ..

To be fair, I've always said that Brora Rangers were rubbish. I've never liked them and I'm unanimous in that. Cove Rangers have always been my team.

COYCR!!

warspite1 -> RE: All things Football (soccer) related (4/7/2019 10:13:29 AM)

Here is an important Public Information Announcement.

Football has been cancelled for the month of April. It simply doesn't exist and nothing that supposedly happens (and that you may read about or watch) actually does.

When a certain team gets twatted in the Champions League and falls, limply, out of the top 4 race, this can be ignored. It didn't happen.

Football is officially a stupid game for stupid people #threewisemonkeys

The very definition of Squeaky Bum Time. It might extend even to May.

Not for a certain team it won't. It will all be over by the end of April - or at least would have if anything was happening in April - but of course its not.....

Spurs - City and Liverpool - Porto today. My prediction: at least one English club prevails. It is known.

Any update on the injury on Kane?

warspite1 -> RE: All things Football (soccer) related (4/11/2019 6:06:25 PM)

Nothing as yet. But remember it didn't happen. April and football are cancelled.
