Well that draw could have worked out better [&:]

terje439 - it doesn't matter what I do and don't want - we'll probably lose in a penalty shoot out anyway.... it would be rude not to (unless of course we get spanked by the Germans first [;)].

warspite1 -> RE: European Championships (10/25/2013 10:47:03 PM)

So what do peeps make of Sir Alex Ferguson's comments about Gerard and Henderson? Has he gone too far - with Henderson in particular?

IMO, he's a bitter old man who I always thought was a bit of a **** with double standards (don't all managers) and seemed to spend half his life acting like a spoilt child and the other half generally being unpleasant. Of course, I could be wrong. But I'm not.

Having said that, I haven't really read what his actual comments were, something about Henderson running a bit weird? In any case, he's just trying to (succeeding in) annoy the Scousers. If he was half the manager everyone says he is then he'd have been able to actually win the Champions League more than he did and actually build a midfield. He was still using Ryan Giggs in the first team, and he's older than the aeroplanes I work on!

Again, this is my opinion: Rafa Benitez is a far better manager than Red Nose was. I'd even say Arsene Wenger is, I don't think Fergie could have kept Man Utd competitive given the same restraints Arsenal have been under for the past few years.

terje439 -> RE: European Championships (10/26/2013 8:04:44 AM)

I do not think it is fair to claim that Ferguson is not a good manager, you do not win PL that many times with a subpar manager. He IS however bitter and grumpy, and always has been imo. I also feel that he had a tendency to whine a lot, and almost expect that his team should be treated differently than the rest by the FA.
I agree however that Wenger is a better manager, imo the best in PL. Rafa....well, his main downfall imo is his inability to make the correct purchases, and to build on what he had, so he ranks below Ferguson with me.

Why can't Spurs score? It's ridiculous....[:@]

warspite1 -> RE: European Championships (11/3/2013 2:01:22 PM)

We're going to pay for this......

warspite1 -> RE: European Championships (11/3/2013 3:55:45 PM)

0-0 Fair result in the end. We are still three players short....

warspite1 -> RE: European Championships (11/7/2013 9:07:05 PM)

2-1 tonight against FC Sherriff and that is sufficient to take us into the knock-out stages [:)]

Performances of one or two players is still a concern, but Erik Lamela looked like a decent player for the first time this season which is good.

Well done too to Jermain Defoe on beating Martin Chivers European goalscoring record for the Spurs.

No, I am not going to the arena to watch the match. I have several reasons for this but it mostly boils down to that I am to old and grumpy. So I rather watch it on TV.

World Cup draw announced - and its a stinker for England; just Uruguay Italy and Costa Rica to beat then....

Can't believe France's group...the worst ranked of the Europeans and they get a draw like that... CONSPIRACY!!

warspite1 -> RE: European Championships (12/8/2013 9:10:18 PM)

FA Cup third round draw today. Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspur...

Oh well, there's always next year!

How can The Spurs concede five goals at home? [&:]

And they seem to have a hard time scoring goals as well. [:(]

Maybe they need some new players during the winter transfer? A completely new starting line and a new coach? [:@]

A new coach might not arrive until January but the old one got the boot today.

Two days before a League cup Q/F - not ideal preparation is it?

..and now we appoint Tim Sherwood..

Interesting appointment, lets hope and pray it works out [:)]

wodin -> RE: European Championships (12/23/2013 9:09:32 PM)

Has he been confirmed? Should never have let Harry go..thought AVB was a mistake as so as we got him. I expect Tim will do better than AVB..he hadn't a clue. Though I'd have loved Levy to Beg harry back..was never going to happen though.

warspite1 -> RE: European Championships (1/3/2014 8:06:43 PM)

One of THE big weekends in the English sporting calendar - The FA Cup 3rd Round!

Aresenal vs Tottenham Hotspur coming up tomorrow - they don't get much bigger than this. Arsenal at home and the clear favourites but may be we can pull off a surprise??

Orm -> RE: European Championships (1/10/2014 4:06:12 AM)

How fun does this look?

warspite1 -> RE: European Championships (2/1/2014 6:20:44 AM)

Well the transfer window was a bit of a damp squib for us. One player out on loan and....

..that was it. So with Defoe leaving before the end of the season, is that really a good idea?
