Congratulations in your 'achievement' Warspite. As for a greater goal in life? Have you considered joining the proud ranks of those with >10,000 posts? It is a truly clarion call for action and a pinnacle to which few can rise.

british exil -> RE: 6,000???!!! (5/17/2012 9:35:03 PM)

Yeah, like winning the $600,000,000 lottery a few weeks ago.

Yeah, 6000 or 39000 is pretty awesome. Us guys with only a little over 100 need to count backwards or something, man.... (Platoon reference).

Terminus -> RE: 6,000???!!! (5/18/2012 12:17:05 AM)

All joking aside, post count is utterly without relevance.

WHOA. WTH have you been smoking? The higher the post count, the more babes you attract(unless you are a great DANE). Just ask warspite, he will tell you...and tell you...and...

Congratulations Warspite1!

I don't think I'll live long enough to see 6000 at the present rate.

Terminus is right. After about 25,000 posts, the quality:quantity ratio slips irretrievably. The most relevant and helpful posts are always made by those with >10,000 but <25,000 posts, I've found. Trust me.

Warspite1

Not sure you are right about this. Ambrose wrote about this phenomena in his epic tome: Matrix Post Levels and the Law Of Diminishing Returns (1963) Nice Beaver Publishing co.

Ambrose noted that those who posted at the Matrix forum came from all countries around the globe and even beyond, but typically tended to be from the US, UK, Sweden and (unfortunately) Gorn.

By taking the post count data from each country, Ambrose then used a defined set of variables (e.g. age, quality of avatar/signature, what games a poster was interested in etc etc) and cross referenced these with a posters' individual personality (e.g. argumentative, witty, snotty, illiterate....ahem nate25...., eloquent, mad as a box of frogs etc etc) and then put this data set through the Braxton-Hicks contraction model.

The outputs were then analysed over a period of at least five minutes before Ambrose came to his conclusions (which, as we all know, have proven remarkably accurate:

Main Conclusions

UK posters are the cleverest, wittiest, most well informed, handsome, articulate and athletic. Those posters with over 6,000 posts are at the top of the tree and, interestingly, the Law of Diminishing Returns does not apply - these posters tend to become cleverer, wittier, more well informed etc etc from here on in. In a remarkably prescient piece of deduction, Ambrose stated that such posters would be babe magnets too.

US posters were a real mixed bag, reflecting the size and diversity of that great nation. But Ambrose concluded that the Law of Diminishing Returns was definitely relevant here and that as a poster increased his/her count, so the content of each post became less and less relevant. From Chapter 90 - "As a poster nears the 10,780 mark, his/her posts are effectively gibberish and are read by forumites as fghfhghfgarf dfgfg fgtrsrt". However on a state by state basis, there were some variances; e.g. for posters from states with just four letters, the law does not apply. Instead, their posts are generally rubbish from day one and these posters should be encouraged to leave. Controverisally, but quite rightly, Ambrose suggested that anyone from Wyoming should not be allowed on the forum in the first place.

Swedish (and indeed Scandanavian posters generally (Denmark excluded)) it was concluded, are thoroughly nice people
and should be encouraged to participate more, especially as they have such beautiful women (Bjork excluded).

As for people from Gorn, Ambrose simply asked, Why?

Interestingly, Ambrose used the services of a research assistant called Wodin Snr. This may explain why Chapter 6 of the book is entitled "Why Matrix needs to enrol more Glacial faced, high cheek-boned, Aryan, kick-arse-Steampunk- stormtroopers in drag that can use a bow" ....indeed.

Anyways, if you want to know more, you'll have to buy the book.

I recall that Ambrose is from Wyoming and then he shouldn't have been allowed to write a book in the first place. Therefore I conclude that all the books written by Ambrose have no use whatsoever except to use as kindling.

[X(][X(][X(]

But then his theories about Wyoming can't possibly be right so maybe his books have some use after all... [&:] and if his theory about Wyoming is correct then kindling it is. This feels kind of circular.[:(] Only one solution to this comes to mind. All books written by Ambrose should be used to create warmth so that they have some use. [:)]

Very true. I love his works on Guadacanal, especially when he writes about the little known fact that the Japanese platoons were led by Bohemian corporals that were imported from Europe.

wodin -> RE: 6,000???!!! (5/18/2012 9:11:39 AM)

What was Ambrose thinking? Normally he'd have said something along the lines of Americans post more complex, literate, philosophical posts than all members and their post count is huge, way bigger than anything in the world ever, and better. The French have low post counts as their too lazy and never edit out any errors or inconsistencies after posting, the British have low post counts as there busy getting the Kettle on but if they stopped brewing up then they may just about reach the dizzy heights of the American posters, the Nordic countries have low post counts but never make mistakes and always friendly and finally the Germans are more or less at the same level as the Americans but Americans posts are still better, he never mentions any other country as he said when asked they didn't exist.

Congrats on the post count. I'm a real slacker... I've been on these board from their founding and have a low post count...

I've found this to be very true.

When I look at the 3,000+ utterly useless posts of Parusski and compare it to my ca.1,200 golden nuggets of knowledge and sunlight, the above statement becomes shockingly clear.

Titanwarrior89 -> RE: 6,000???!!! (5/18/2012 2:25:05 PM)

Congrats to all of the "High Rollers".  My number is so low.[X(][:(]
