Buchon -> Maximun number of ships on a TF (12/1/2002 7:49:17 PM)

I was playing scenario 12 as japanese, against AI with hard as difficulty level. I created, at Truk, a transport TF containing 3 escorts and 23 AP, and I filled it with troops and supplies as reinforcements to my Port Moresby assaulting force. On next turn I checked the TF and trere were 40 ships ( 3 escots and 37 AP) with the exceeding AP self-selected by the AI (some of them with system damage and low speed), loading supplies.
I loaded the saved file, trie it again, and find out the same result.

Is that a bug?

Thanks.

I believe it's a feature, it happens if you pick more troops than will fit in the available transports.

Have a look at the discussion here, I've brought it up before ;)

Skip to the 3rd post to get started (the first two are largely irrelevant for this topic).

If you think about it having massive transport TF's isn't going to hurt game balance much, at worst they can have 24 escorts - but over 15 ships there are penalties for combat and so on.

Have fun,

You're right, thanks.

May be should appear a message telling you there are too many troops for so limited loading capability, forcing you to modify the TF.

Anyway, practice make perfect.
