Sorry to bring the thread back to the original question but the difference may have to do with the way the same data is displayed.
1Kb is 1024 bytes so strictly 1Mb is 1024 squared or 1,048,576 bytes. However some programs display the downloads using 1Mb equals 1,000,000 bytes or worst still 1,000 times 1kb. Confusing huh???
Both answers are probably right in their own way.
