Is it possible to reform Regiments into Divisions when playing Scen #2 as the IJA?

Thanks,

Terminus -> RE: Reform Divisions (6/29/2012 5:44:59 PM)

Of course. Are you having trouble?

rwolan@sbcglobal.net -> RE: Reform Divisions (6/29/2012 5:47:11 PM)

Yeah,

Not really sure how I perform that feat.

I want to group some units into a full division for my attack on Singapore. Can you provide some guidance?

Thanks,

Every subunit has to be in the same hex, they all have to belong to the same HQ and must be in the same Operational Mode. If all of this is achieved, you get a "Reform" button at the bottom of the info page for any subunit.

Oh......OK.

Where can I see what the subunit requirement is say for the 55th Division?

Again Thanks!

There's a button at the bottom of the page of any subunit called "Unit organisation of <insert name of division here>". Click that, and you'll see all subunits, what hexes they're in and if some have yet to arrive on the map or have been destroyed.

Thanks Terminus!

I have been reading Mike Solli's AAR trying to grab some of the finer points to playing as IJ, but couldn't figure out how he formed Divisions for a more organized advance.

No problem.

Nikademus -> RE: Reform Divisions (6/29/2012 6:19:19 PM)

also bear in mind that if one of the sub units gets an upgrade to it's devices....it wont be able to merge back with the parent unit. All devices have to be the same in rgards to upgrades

Thanks Nikademus!

So I should be safe early on in the game before upgrades start to roll out.

Another question just occurred to me....... After I achieve my objective, can I break that Division back down to it's sub units?

P.S. My Sig is a play on your name Nikademus....if you didn't notice[:)]

i noticed. Sure it's not a reference to smoking?

you can always break down a division into it's subcomponents as long as it's setup that way in the editor to begin with. A unit has to have subunits defined with each having a seperate entry in the editor.

As Nik and Terminus said. And as a rule of thumb it is best to break down divisions to rest and refit but best to combine them when fighting as they are much more durable than their components alone. I can't reinforce what Nik said about watching your devices and upgrades. I am pretty good at this stuff but have been caught with my pants down many times and could not recombine valuable units when needed due to one of the sub units upgrading devices. This is especially a problem with Commonwealth units and the Chinese as there are really never enough devices in the pools. Watch it closely, you can either choose to stockpile a certain device to prevent this or just make sure that the upgrade button for all units in your division is off until you have enough devices.

BTW, welcome to the forums.

No, glad to say I never picked up that habit. [:)]
