John 3rd -> Pass Code BLOWS! (7/3/2012 6:00:33 AM)

I was just logging in and did my name, password, and then spent 5 minutes trying to find a security code that I could ACTUALLY READ. What is up with that? They we all semi-erased. Anyone else have an issue with that? It went past irritating on about the 6th attempt to simply log-in to the site.

Grunt -> RE: Pass Code BLOWS! (7/3/2012 6:07:43 AM)

Amen. It looks they've added a lot more lines to obscure the letters and numbers. They did a good job of obscuring. Took me seven or eight attempts.

KenchiSulla -> RE: Pass Code BLOWS! (7/3/2012 6:09:29 AM)

It's probably the only thing they can do for now to keep the spammers out of the main forum... The system is there for a reason (and it is not to annoy you)...

fodder -> RE: Pass Code BLOWS! (7/3/2012 6:30:13 AM)

I had to click away six before I got one that I could read. If it keeps the spammers out I guess I can live with it. Like I have a choice.

Barb -> RE: Pass Code BLOWS! (7/3/2012 6:32:07 AM)

I had the same experience - the images are hardly readable - so it is almost impossible to log in. I had 7-8tries before succeeding [sm=00000018.gif]

LoBaron -> RE: Pass Code BLOWS! (7/3/2012 6:41:01 AM)

Is that BS login a joke? Hey Matrixgames, if somebody thinks this is funny: well, surprize, it is NOT!

Going blind at 07:30am is not my personal favourite for starting the day. Gets this fixed ASAP please!

Puhis -> RE: Pass Code BLOWS! (7/3/2012 6:49:25 AM)

Yeah, soon these keeps everybody out. I changed the image maybe 15 times until I found one I managed to guess... [:@]

danlongman -> RE: Pass Code BLOWS! (7/3/2012 7:05:21 AM)

Be careful what you wish for spambot haters! This really vacuums posterior. Or blows goats!
I do not need the aggro. My BP jumped up 30 points just trying to get in to say I hates it.
This is, in my mind, attempted murder. So much for dropping in to have fun. Hope this stops the spambots
because for now it has stopped me. Did somebody look at this and think it was a GOOD idea? Shoot him and his family now please.
Yours in aggravation .......please imagine a stream of obscenities hurled this way. All scrambled up so that they look like prayers

John 3rd -> RE: Pass Code BLOWS! (7/3/2012 7:33:12 AM)

Wow. I was hoping it was just me...

Icedawg -> RE: Pass Code BLOWS! (7/3/2012 8:33:43 AM)

Can't you guys set your computer to remember your password and automatically log you in? I haven't logged in manually in over three months since I checked that little box that said "remember my password".

Me too!!! [:D]

(Haven't needed to log in for months that is...)

DivePac88 -> RE: Pass Code BLOWS! (7/3/2012 9:41:33 AM)

Me too, five attempts. [X(]

d0mbo -> RE: Pass Code BLOWS! (7/3/2012 11:05:10 AM)

Boy am I glad my machine accepts cookies so can stay logged in.

Have had the same problems in the past though. Unfun.

jeffk3510 -> RE: Pass Code BLOWS! (7/3/2012 11:10:38 AM)

I dont understand how its enhanced security anyways...

The codes are supposed to keep spambots out, but these ones keep humans out too methinks. [:D]

Its perfectly possible to code so a spambot can create loadsa ids. They cannot read the CAPTCHA so the theory goes that if you make it machine unreadable it needs a mark 1 eyeball (human issue) to decipher the deliberately obscure text.

Problems occur because it is obscure, the mark 1 eyeball is not necessarily that good anyway, and then there's the confusion over numbers or letters, capitals or not and do you include a space or not.

Now try doing this sort of activity with 50 kids whose reading ability is not great and who need to type in such an input to register for a google account - all at one go - I used to sometimes really earn my pay!

I just sigh in resignation when I get one of these to do, and see if I can get it within ten attempts.......

[sm=00000028.gif]

Its a necessary evil I am afraid. Set your cookies and remember the login command and its not so often you need to do it.....

Roger

tocaff -> RE: Pass Code BLOWS! (7/3/2012 12:18:11 PM)

Just 1 more thing to vex these old eyes of mine. I do set the computer to remember the passwords, but once in a while I have a utility that cleans things up a bit and there I go again resetting the passwords that I can't remember. [X(]

I agree that the easiest way is to save your password and check the "cookies" button. This will at least stop you from having to type in that annoying text.

USSAmerica -> RE: Pass Code BLOWS! (7/3/2012 12:47:02 PM)

I can't remember the last time I had to log in. [:D]

zuluhour -> RE: Pass Code BLOWS! (7/3/2012 12:50:36 PM)

Cool, a problem I don't have![:D]

jetjockey -> RE: Pass Code BLOWS! (7/3/2012 1:11:05 PM)

Can anyone say "child-proof" cap?

The Gnome -> RE: Pass Code BLOWS! (7/3/2012 1:13:33 PM)

Took me about 8 attempts to get the code right, then found out I entered my password incorrectly [:@]

VMF 214 -> RE: Pass Code BLOWS! (7/3/2012 1:13:54 PM)

I don't get on much but I will say it did test my deciphering skills.

Me too ... I got lucky on the third attempt ... I use several different computers from several different networks ... so using cookies doesn't help in my case. I will make sure the powers that be are aware ...

Puhis -> RE: Pass Code BLOWS! (7/3/2012 2:19:34 PM)

Seems to be fixed now, I could log on without any problem.

Canoerebel -> RE: Pass Code BLOWS! (7/3/2012 2:20:23 PM)

I thought John was exaggerating unitl I tried to log on at home.  Wow!  That stuff was impossible to figure out!  I think Matrix has reverted to the "old way," thank goodness.  But even that I messed up on my first attempt to log in.  [:)]

Same reason here, also I generally clean cookies after terminating a browser session. Keeps the disc clean and prevents data fraud.

Thanks for your effort! Looks so much better again.

Erik Rutins -> RE: Pass Code BLOWS! (7/3/2012 3:09:23 PM)

Hi guys,

This was part of an ongoing attempt to reduce spam. We've reverted things back and are pursuing other alternatives, apologies for the inconvenience.

Regards,

- Erik

awadley -> RE: Pass Code BLOWS! (7/3/2012 3:43:59 PM)

Thanks, Erik. It is back the way it was before.

It's an ugly problem and you have to try, and they call it "try" 'cause things don't always work! I'm just glad I had cookies logging me in or I might have failed that Turing Test. [:D]
