I used to be in the camp that said "Army Piolots can't hit a barn they were standing in" but no more.

Using PM as a Level Bomber basein June of '42 without any of the nice long range stuff (since my B-17s have been shot to pieces) I am getting 15-20 bomb and torpedo hits a day on passing support and invasion fleets.

I dropped the altitude of the level bombers from 6000 feet to 2000 feet and my success has shot up 20 fold! I have managed to keep Gili-Gili and between that and PM I plan to clean the water of any IJN ship south of Rabal. By the time the new carriers come into possition I will be running B-25s against Rabal out of Gili-Gili.

What version of the game are you running?

15-20 bomb hits a day from Army bombers sounds like a post that should have been made over in the Bugs forum, not here.

Nope no joke.

I am a little over a month into #17 version 2.10 and my army piolots are starting to crush the IJN. Maybe they are all lying but I take reports of 1-3 hits on 5 ships with some burning as more than Army bragging. That is per air raid. I have been getting 2-3 raids a day out of PM with simular results.


I have even seen 3 B-17s out of Cook town fly to Rabaul get through the CAP and put multiple bombs into transports loading troops. That is why my B-17s are so beet up.

Ah version 2.10, that explains it. That was a bug and it got fixed in 2.11. Upgrade and your bombers will be back to normal (mostly). The bombers still seem too tough on some people's computers but their accuracy is back to normal.

Yes that did it. Under 2.11 the army pilots lost some of their shine.

They can still do a decent job if they are massed against a slow moving convy. I just wish there was a way to prohibit targets.

Whenever I set the B-17s to Naval attacks, off they fly to Rabal and get their tail feathers shot off. So I have to base them farther back from the action so Rabal is out of maximum range. This makes them nearly useless since everything is now outside of the normal range.
