Knavey -> Items in SF that I would love in CBI (7/5/2012 12:16:51 AM)

What is the most efficient way to move items in San Fran to Karachi?

I have never actually done it, but think I might like some of these items over there rather than elsewhere.

Thanks,

East Coast - Cape Town - Karachi

But this game is borked!

Guess I better put some of the long haul AKs into service.

Just remember, you can transfer ground (and air) units from EC to Capetown without using ships, so you only need to ship them from CT-India.

Only air units can be transferred directly, ground units have to be shipped unless the off map base is directly connect by rail.

For long legged air units (B-29) it's often quicker to go via SF and fly them in two/three hops accross the Pacific.

This isn't correct. I've transported the 27th U.S. infantry division directly from the East Coast to Cape Town using strategic movement. No ships were required. I'm assuming this is true for all off-map bases that share a common sealane.

I'm now Aug 1945 and have units in the UK that I cannot transfer any other way than via ships unless I'm missing something obvious. Now I've been playing this same scenario since AE came out and cannot remember if it is possible to send some units directly from the US.

In WitP you could send units to Asia.

See section 8.3.3 in the manual, pages 192-3. It explains strategic movement between two off-map areas for air and ground units. Hope this helps.

Amazing, how longs AE been out and still learning. I was trying to send them to an on-map base which you can't do but between off-map bases you can. Nether can you send them from an on-map base.

Yes, this is AE 101. I was shipping units via AP when I found out I can do it simply by transfer from any off map base to another off map base. Any air or Land combat unit. Click them to transfer and then click the base you want to send them to. The unit will vanish from the map and show up in your reinforcement que designated to arrive at the base you selected. East Coast to Capetown takes about 30 days. Also, check the date. Once the Suez Canal is open it is quicker to ship units via Aden rather than Capetown. You will need to keep APs and Aks at Capetown-Aden as you will need ships to move them on map.

If you are going to fight in India, you will need American air units, base forces and plenty of engineers. I start shipping units to India on the first day of the war. You can't send enough engineers as the British and Indian army are woefully short of them.
