Two things. The rapidshare link is not working now. And could you see yourself clear to include the source?

BIG ERN -> RE: Tool: Message Reader (11/25/2012 9:13:54 PM)

I am a newbie to this game playing my first PBEM as axis. so a couple of questions.

1]So far whenever my nightfighters M410, Ju88 etc go up they are slaughtered. As they are listed there must be a use for them..how do I use them. Against bombers only?
2] It seems thatI am unable to intecept raid s once they have bombed, is that true?
3] Are escorting fighters limited by fuel/ammo? ie. If I intercept them on the way to Germany will they have to turn back after combat therefore leavinbgthe bombers exposed.

Any help will be appreciated.

Ok, first the ME 410 is a day fighter. It is a twin engine bomber destroyer that maneuvers like a cow on ice. Are we talking about day or night?

No. After they hit the target is a very good time to hit a raid and the only effective time to hit Tiffy raids.

Yes. The way you use the bomber destroyers is to use your 109Gs and FW190s to peel off the escorts then attack the main raid with them.

I will be happy to discuss things with you but this is not the place. This is the mod forum and this is a tread about a game tool. Go to the general discussion forum and start a thread for a tactics discussion. Post your questions (one or two to a post :-) ) and I will try to answer them.

Hi Curt,

I would have no problem to publish the source code, but I don't want to run in trouble
if I do so. You know, this tool is able to read savegame files and to show all mission
targets etc...
So everybody would be able to see what raids his opponent player has planned.
In a pbem game that would be fatal. [:-]
Also I assume that Harley don't want that...

Exactly...

My first tool was a basic editor for Talonsoft's Twelve O'Clock High: Bombing the Reich, and I came up with the same limitations. I just made a flag to detect PBEM games and not allow them to open.

Harley

The problem I am looking at is how to keep a hex edit, or mem reader from misusing info loaded by a german production tool. Even if it is an info only tool it would be possible to edit or read other info than what should be available to the player. The only thing I have come up with is public key crypto with the data kept encrypted in memory. I will have to learn a lot to make that work and probably will leave security holes anyway. Did you look at any deeper anti cheat stuff when you were doing the first upgrade?

Curt

Hi,

Can some one please re-up the message tool or email me a copy please? Thanks.

warshipbuilder -> RE: Tool: Message Reader (3/3/2013 11:55:17 PM)

Hi,

I now have version 1.01, could somebody please pass along 1.04. Thanks.

Thanks to Creeper for fixing the link.

Creeper -> RE: Tool: Message Reader (10/10/2013 6:02:50 PM)

Turner -> RE: Tool: Message Reader (10/10/2013 6:55:50 PM)

Never used this tool before but looking forward to 1.05!

npsergio -> RE: Tool: Message Reader (10/10/2013 7:16:06 PM)

It's a great aid for the game...

Just an idea:
Why not a message reader for the defender side and another for the attacker, with different info to offer to each side? I mean, that v1.05 gives info that maybe will be too much for the attacker (he will know where the factories go and what they produce...

Anyway thanks a lot for sharing your tool :)

warshipbuilder -> RE: Tool: Message Reader (10/10/2013 8:09:22 PM)

Don't think of it as to much information. Think of it as spies reporting. Espionage is a very legitimate tool in times of war. [:D]

K 19 -> RE: Tool: Message Reader (10/11/2013 12:37:43 AM)

Hi Creeper. Great tool. Looking forward to it!

And from your screenshot I see you are still using my old map mod. [:)] I wonder if I should upload it again...

Creeper -> RE: Tool: Message Reader (10/11/2013 7:04:12 PM)

K 19, I haven't realized that this was your map mod!
I should mention it in the Message Viewer.
Thanks for pointing that out!
[:)]

Exactly! [8D]
...or I could simulate a dice roll in the Viewer and show 1 or 2 random factory movements
to the Attacker Side, if the dice roll is successfull. [:'(]

But seriously, the final V1.05 will hide the 'critical' infos to the Attacker Side.

warshipbuilder -> RE: Tool: Message Reader (10/11/2013 7:52:25 PM)

Is it possible for the attacker to have the option as to how much information he receives? Sort of an easy (full disclosure), intermediate (some) or hard (forgetaboutit) choice. Still being pretty much a novice player, I would be interested to see what is going on in the hidden world of the Axis empire. I think as I progress to the Axis side of the game, this would give me an idea how to handle the production side of the game. In effect it is a learning tool.

Turner -> RE: Tool: Message Reader (10/11/2013 8:02:29 PM)

Takeoff and landing messages should not be disclosed to the allied player.

This can be (and is) used as a debugging tool. Very useful, but for PBEM usage the info should be limited? Any way to make it PBEM sensitive?

npsergio -> RE: Tool: Message Reader (10/11/2013 8:38:03 PM)

Actually I have allways thought that the allies had to receive more info from the recon missions, like plane or tool beeing produced in the factories (after a long recon, and with some fog of war into it). I think that some missions against the air factories were launched against specific objectives...

K 19 -> RE: Tool: Message Reader (10/12/2013 1:21:56 AM)

No problem. Not necessary. I was just surprised to see someone using it! It was uploaded for only a short time 3 years ago before I removed it.
