Alekks -> Early 1942 Port Moresby invasion (8/13/2012 6:53:10 PM)

Scenario 7 Quiet China, Babes re-do

Setup: Playing as Allies, it's Feb 1942 and the Japanese have landed a moderate invasion force at Port Moresby.

At Port Moresby are what they started with, plus one Aussie brigade as reinforcement along with an additional base force. One P40E squadron for local CAP and a few PBYs are there.

The quandry :: Spend PPs and try to get reinforcements there by sea or fly some in piecemeal using transports and PBYs along with a Surface Group to prevent a further reinforcement landing. Or, use what is there and hope for the best without risking further losses in LCUs and shipping at this early stage while knowing I'll just take it back several months later.

Curious to get some opinions on this. Thanks for your time.

If a PBEM, I would think no Japanese player would let you keep/hold PM; it would be a lost cause. Heck, New Cal is hard to hold on to as Allies in a PBEM.

Against AI it would be easier to hold on to PM. If you can get a fighter to PM, with a fighter on OZ, a transport froim OZ to PM with double coverage is possible. Or use your CVs to fly CAP for the transports in route.
