WO Katsuki -> AA guns in CD unit, CD guns in AA unit -->please clarify (8/16/2012 2:50:54 AM)

hello -

want this clarified

1) so I have some 10cm DP guns in my jap AA unit

will these fire at naval or ground targets during an amphib assault?

2) what if I have the same 10cm DP guns in my jap CD unit

will those AA guns fire in a CD unit at enemy B-24s?

I am about 85% sure the answer is yes and yes. DP guns in the editor can engage both air and sea targets and these should be no different.
The Allies early in the war have some 155mm guns in a unit in the Philippines that engange sea targets despite being an artillery unit.
I think certain devices will engage targets no matter what kind of unit they are in.

I thought all artillery pieces have the ability to engage sea targets when an amphibious landing takes place. Think there is some penalty for non-CD guns though (at least, they don't seem to hit much when compared to dedicated CD units). All this is anecdotical on my part though.

Yes. CD, DP, AA and artillery can all engage amphibious landing. Early game versions had a bug when even sound detectors could hit enemy ships... [:D]

Unit or unit experience does not matter at all when AA or DP guns fire enemy planes. Base's flak is just number of flak guns (and their effect, ceiling etc.)

It seems CD guns have just very high accuracy. Probably all guns work the same in that case.

yes, that must be it. Anyone knows how to unstatic the CD guns of the japanese? I am very short of them :)

Check LCU upgrades.

Some IJN Base Forces get CD guns later, also there is something called Hong Kong Fort (or something similar, 3 units in China will join into this), although this last get several guns, they seems to be some form of normal, not CD (low accuracy)

I thought the Hong Kong unit was restricted after recombining the batallions? Need to check out tracker.

I think it IS restricted, however you can use it on whole continent.

And using some strange tricks (changing HQ of base, transporting there fragment, and then sacrificing the rest with heavy weapons), you can transport it anywhere you want (by changing HQ of every stop in the way [:)])

Yet it gets like 6 lousy guns. Do not worth the effort
