Automation mode on expert mode.
Saved game sent to server under :PipewrenchAug282012retrofFleet.dwg

Findings:

Fleet current orders are cancelling out a manual retrofit command issued in the ships and bases panel(F11 screen) with fleet set on automatic. Cost of cancelled retrofit is deducted from money.


To reproduce:

Conditions:

All military fleets are set on automatic and are patrolling a selected area.
Any range setting for fleet
Any posture set to fleet

Results of a retrofit call using F11 ships bases screen:

Steps used:

pause
selected either 1 ship or whole class in the ships and bases panel

then selecting retrofit button. (ex: escort)

paid the cost of the retrofit.

focused on 1 ship in the fleet to watch the progress thru the selection panel.

unpause

selection panel registered a retrofit order for the escort.

within a few seconds the command was cancelled and fleet orders were re-instated.

money was deducted for the retrofit not preformed.


F11 needs to override all fleet orders so that a general retrofit command can be called to upgrade designs. Then the ships can go back to a fleet ordered stance. Otherwise I have to cycle thru every fleet to order a retrofit or even worse go down to each specific ship in the selection panel and order a manual retrofit command and then put the ship back in automatic so that it will return to follow fleet orders after it is finished. Pulling out selected designs while keeping the rest of the fleet on station leads to better, efficient upgrades, in my opinion.
