mgaffn1 -> question: regime morale (9/4/2012 6:02:04 PM)

What actually happens when a regime's morale increases or decreases?
Does it effect unit readiness for every unit in that regime? or something else?...

Have scrolled around the forum on this topic, just haven't been able to find it yet.
(I've created an event for the fall of Paris that increases German regime morale by 5% and decreases Anglo French regime morale by 10%)
thanks,

Not quite sure what happens.

It doesnīt reduce readiness, but it does have an effect on the powerpoints the unit is showing. They will be decreased if its lower or increased if it is higher (than 50%). At least that is my experience.

I think morale is taken into consideration when determining if a unit flees... but i donīt know for sure.

I certainly too would appreciate some words on what Regime Morale actually does.

(Regime base morale * people morale ) determines the maximum level morale of troops can reach by autogrowth of morale, however its only people morale that influences morale on production. Its something i might change it the next patch actually.

best,
Vic

Thanks Vic, that made it clearer to me.

Clear as mud. So you adjust people morale to change the production values?

I tested this out last night in an experimental scenario that had two identical forces engaged in combat. 3 infantry divisions, equal stats, equal distance from hqs, etc. Regime A attacks regime B. I was the human player for both regimes to ensure consistency.

First test regimes each had 100% morale. Ran 3 seperate combats & recorded casualties.

Second test regime A had 120% morale and regime B had 80% morale. Ran 3 seperate combats & recorded casualties.

Found no significant difference in combat results from first test (equal morale) to second test (120 vs. 80). However, on the second test (120 vs. 80) the individual SFTypes morale was 7% points higher for regime A.

Perhaps this will influence combat results on a longer term, as regime A gets more morale points...
maybe will test this some more tonight.

Yes. Though for a next patch i might actually factor in regime base morale as well.

You can also use the itemtype morale modifier to influence initial morale of production.

best,
Vic
