jgsIII -> WitPTracker (9/8/2012 3:20:40 AM)

I am trying to get WitPTracker working on Win 7 Home but it's fighting me all the way. Not being a Java programmer, what info / files / logs do I need to collect to display here (or is there another section to put errors?) to help folks zoom in on the issue? I would really like to get WitPTracker running! Thanks for your time.

James

I am setting up WitPTracker for the first time and would like to start using it for my current PBEM game. Is it possible to use WitPTracker even though I am in the middle of a game? How would I do this?

hi sufaloofa,

Yes, you can start Tracker mid-game, see this page:
https://sites.google.com/site/witptracker/set-up

When you edit the 5th line in the witptracker.properties file, you can specify which game-turn you want Tracker to start collecting data from - this can be from game-start (such as wpae011.pws) or at any subsequent saved turn (*.pws file).

The more turns you want to load, the larger the tracker.db file grows. My GC game's trackerdb.data file is currently 555 MB after 273 game-turns, Tracker takes a good 8-10 minutes to load on my box.

The number of turns you can load up is limited by the amount of time you want to spend cruising the forum while it loads, the amount of RAM you've got available, & some tweaks you can add to your Tracker's startup shortcut (to expand the amount of RAM it can access).

I would guess that most players periodically either scrub their tracker (by deleting the 5 or 6 "trackerdb.*" files in their Tracker dir, & changing the StartFile *.pws to a later date, or by making a new Tracker install.
