GI Seve -> Escaping enemy homeworld... (9/11/2012 12:20:47 PM)

Well I'm newbie to this game and was kinda wondering if its normal for enemy homeworld to "escape" my ships. Meaning that it is not on its normal orbit and my troop transport doesn't seem to be able to land any troops there. Should I have faster troop transporter to be able to land as the current one has only 3 thrusters?!?

Are the transports out of fuel?

A lot of designs limp at 3 speed on impulse, which is what is used when out of fuel. And if it is a moon, it may very well travel at 3 speed by itself, making docking (and invading) a very slow process.

If you are designing ships yourself, it could make sense to have quicker transports, but that is in the case you like to dive in among defenders and land the troops, and then it matters to move fast, and being able to take some hits.

The ship has plenty of fuel. Later on I had same issue with coloniser "chasing" planet that had some other civs mine on it. The planet was definately not on its orbit. That coloniser finally managed to land to that planet when I was not looking so I dunno what happened there.

I make sure that my troop transports have enough thrusters to achieve a speed of 25 or more. The planets and moons move along their orbit paths at a speed of about 3-4. If your colony ship or transport comes out of hyperdrive in a position behind the planet or moon, it can be difficult to catch up to it and make a landing. A delay that that can allow someone else to get there first or allow your ships to be destroyed. Check your designs for thruster power.
