trhinz -> Leaders (9/16/2012 5:40:30 PM)

Can someone tell me what the significance is of the * symbol that appears sometimes behind the name or rank of individuals on the leaders list?

Thanks.

Captain Cruft -> RE: Leaders (9/16/2012 11:45:45 PM)

I think it means the leader exists in multiple lists i.e. they might available for commanding a TF but also a LCU, at the same time.

Practically speaking you can just ignore it.

I find it difficult to believe that something the folks who developed or updated this game would put something in that should be ignored. Is that really the case?

Now Paul, just because they didn't work for you, doesn't mean they are crud.... Think Honda!

You see this in air unit leaders. It means there's also a pilot entry for that leader so if you choose that leader to command the air unit, you will get the pilot entry as well in the pilots list of the group.

Now that makes sense, thanks jc!

I agree, it does seem to be solved! I too thank you jcjordan however I would like to know how you found this out? I read all the updates and patches commentary and didn't see this one. What did I miss? Hal

obvert -> RE: Leaders (9/18/2012 4:31:57 PM)

I've also noticed this. It's easy to figure out if you're removing the leader from a full air group and then suddenly you're short a pilot.

What does the * mean for ship captains/TF leaders? Does it mean they could be chosen for either?

jcjordan -> RE: Leaders (9/18/2012 10:40:45 PM)

I don't think I've seen that so can't say why in that case but if I do I'd normally see what their stats are & that might give me a clue as to where they're coming from. Just a WAG but maybe it's quirk of pilot promotions to command level ranks above what you'd see for air units historically ie an ACOM, USN Cpt or BGen in charge of a squadron. I've occasionally seen where a pilot who's in command of a squadron that's promotoed to ACOM when removed then become available to command one of the air hqs or other land units.
