Has anyone designed map editors for BGCW and BGNW with the ability to tone down the colors of the map terrain? I've conducted several searches on the Internet and have not been able to find any. If none is available, is there a free program available that will allow me to change map terrain colors? Thanks in advance!

This is a bit late... However, it would seem to me that you can use Photoshop to selectively change colors in an image (I think I've seen that capability in the program). You could also just use the filters to adjust brightness and contrast which might do the trick for you. Since the BG Maps are "paintings" and not hex based composites of a selection of hex graphics, you aren't going to find any kind of editing program specifically for it.
