fastback -> No Mouse (11/2/2012 2:42:26 AM)

New Dell computer, running Windows 7, with Dell HID compliant mouse, USB connection.

I have no mouse in Fields of Glory or Conquest Medieval. I tried a different mouse, Logitech, with same negative result. Very odd. I had the same problem with my old Dell desktop, although its specs were very marginal for Field of Glory to begin with. Strangely enough, my Dell laptop--also running Windows 7--runs Fields of Glory fine (and Conquest, a cute little puzzle). Any suggestions for fixing the mouse appearance?

Hm very odd indeed, I searched the Slitherine forum but it wasn't even mentioned there. All I can think of is install the latest Logitech mouse drivers (it's in the Logitech mouse menu), or if that doesn't work use the generic Windows 7 mouse drivers.

If it's wireless check batteries[:o]

... You could even try a different USB port for your mouse... computers are weird things sometimes.

Thanks folks, I have tried all these without success. One suggestion elsewhere is that the intellipoint features of the mouse may cause the conflict. I am a little confused by that, as I think most mouse MS Windows software uses that, and it appears to be very difficult to unload. I will keep looking.

Fbk Google "remove intellipoint". that may be what you need. I can't garauntee it, but who knows ? HTH

Well what's puzzling me is that it isn't mentioned in the forums, while at the same time Logitech mouses (uhm mice?) are used widespread... so it should happen to other users as well...
So ... maybe the problem ain't the mouse or the mousedrivers but the Dell integrated Videocard or the Videodrivers. Have you tried that? Installing the latest Videodrivers?

Eureka! I found the problem. Disable mouse trails and put the mouse back to normal, default size. Pointer now appears in game.

So it *was* the mouse software after all. Glad you got it working again.
