Andrew Loveridge -> Public Beta updated v1.12 Now Available! (11/16/2012 3:16:53 PM)

Hi Everyone,

A new update is available in the Members Club. It is a Beta with a couple of AI fixes, and additional features, including using CAP for Initiative rolls and Campaign Mod support, to the release version.

Change History:
Update V1.12

    Fixes

    • AI units sometimes attacking too many times.
    • AI moving tanks into terrain which is likely to get them stuck.

    Added features

    • You can now change your game options from the lobby screen using the new "Options" button.
    • There is a new button in the CAPs area that allows you to set CAP spending on your initiative roll made at the start of your next turn.
    • Added preference for smaller unit information bar.
    • Added basic support for campaigns.
      Players can now advance all surviving units between multiple firefights. Surviving units have a chance to gain experience; this chance is 50% for green units, and 10% less for every higher level of experience, so that veteran units have only a 10% chance of becoming elite. Surviving units are available in the new firefight as reinforcements that enter on the first turn in the standard point buy setup area ("GermanSetup" or "RussianSetup")

      Note that we don't yet have any firefights that use these parameters.

      In the scenario XML file use these tags:

      • GetPiecesFromCampaignName - name of scenario from which to import pieces (from the XML name tag, not the file name)
      • CampaignGainExperienceFactor - multiplies the chance that units moving to a new firefight will gain experience (e.g., setting this to 2 will make green units have a 100% chance to gain experience, veteran units a 20% chance to become elite)

Changes for beta v1.6

Awesome, downloading.
Can't wait to start on some campaigns.

Gerry4321 -> RE: Public Beta updated v1.12 Now Available! (11/16/2012 6:06:16 PM)

Hello:

1) How do I get the beautiful 2-D boards that Eric displayed on another thread yesterday. Is it an in-game option?

2) Previously I updated to 1.5 and now used this v1.12. Is that all I need to get up todate?

Thanks,

Gerry

ericbabe -> RE: Public Beta updated v1.12 Now Available! (11/16/2012 9:02:15 PM)

1. The option is in the Preferences screen. Select under "Board-Game Style Map" the "Giant Sized" option.

2. I don't have anything directly to do with the installer, but I think that what you have should be sufficient.

Great! Let me know if you have any questions on how to implement this, or any suggestions for improving it. This is a really bare-bones campaign mechanism. I have a lot of ideas for improving it, but am unsure of which items to make a priority.

Jamm, let me know when you piece together your campaign that we started testing. I can play this weekend.

junk2drive -> RE: Public Beta updated v1.12 Now Available! (11/16/2012 9:46:35 PM)

eric are we able to join the lobby with this one? Previous beta would not allow it.

ericbabe -> RE: Public Beta updated v1.12 Now Available! (11/16/2012 11:50:11 PM)

You should be able to join the lobby now. Let me know if you have any problems. The lobby now displays the version number of everybody connected. You can trying playing the game with someone who has a different version number, but it may not be stable.

Tried it, crashed. Error message in Tech Support forum.

I have the 1.6 beta installed. How do I install 1.12. One over the other? Thanks for any replies.

junk2drive -> RE: Public Beta updated v1.12 Now Available! (11/17/2012 3:34:16 PM)

Go to the members area, log in, find it, download the exe, run it like an installer.

Hello Andrew
When I try and download the 1.12 beta file, the downloading starts but I get timed out and it stops some point during the downloading. I also get a error message 503 when I try and re-enter the downloading. I am connected to the internet by DSL.
[&:] Any solutions to this problem.

TIA Christopher. [:)]

This is TMOADL (The Mother Of All Downloads). Got it on the second try. But I am confused. Does this update contain the improved counter graphics? Will there likely be any changes to this patch when it is made official & not public beta? Doesn't seem like there will be a gazillion people testing it but I may be wrong.

Charly G -> RE: Public Beta updated v1.12 Now Available! (11/20/2012 10:53:33 AM)

For the Scenarios made by other players:
In order to play them in the Lobby, if I understand, I need to use the Customlobbyfirefights and Maps files now.

I have found the Readme note (Copy the scenario files of any custom firefights you wish to play over the COH lobby to this directory.
Copy the corresponding map files to your Data/Maps/ directory.
Your lobby opponent must put identical copies of these files in the same locations on his hard-drive).

IT IS IMPORTANT EVERY PLAYER USE THE SAME PROCEDURE.

The higher resolution counters were in the last patch. In this patch I tweaked the anisotropy settings of the counter numbers to try to make them more legible on some video cards at far distances or oblique angles.

If everything works properly, then it is not likely there will be any changes between this and the official version.

hugi -> RE: Public Beta updated v1.12 Now Available! (11/23/2012 2:02:29 AM)

I tried and loved it. Now the next battles and extension packs can come.

Only question: Why is this update named 1.12 ... after 1.5? [8|]

One little think could be better: The scenario setting.
1) The rules option should be seen by both players in the "start scenario" screen (you must ask and trust your opponent).
2) At the moment you must know the scenario for mp (no big deal, you can play one time sp) to know which units will come in which turn and where. There is no complete scenario description like in the boardgame scenario book.
3) Unit placement: I am not able to see the stats and the los of the units. More important with random qualities (place the units to see the stats and make undo).

But this are all no big problems. I can live with that (my solutions are in the brackets).

Thanks!
hugi

Gerry4321 -> RE: Public Beta updated v1.12 Now Available! (11/23/2012 5:02:04 AM)

Hello:

I would also like to have downloadable scenario cards for all scenarios, just like is available for the boardgame. This would make a big difference for me in terms of planning and would also increase the immersion for me.

In terms of setup. I agree it would be nice to check LOS so you know you are placing your heavy hitters in good locations.

Also, in terms of setting up a scenario with a lot of units (Prepez?), I would like to suggest a 2-stage process. Right now, the unit list you have to place covers most of the map. You cannot see the map during one of the most important phases of the game. Could we not have 1) only the map shows up first so you can scan/understand it and check LOS; and then 2) you click next or something and the reinforcement list overlays the map?

Thanks,

Gerry

So its just an engine update and no added units correct? Still haven't downloaded it yet, connection keeps timing out. Hoping to get it installed by the end of the weekend.

junk2drive -> RE: Public Beta updated v1.12 Now Available! (11/24/2012 1:53:18 PM)

If that happens more than once, it sounds like a firewall or antivirus issue,

Jamm -> RE: Public Beta updated v1.12 Now Available! (11/24/2012 7:04:17 PM)

Yes, it took me a few tries to get it

Updates 1.6 - 1.11 were tested internally.

1. You should be able to see the rules options in the scenario description screen, as depicted below.
2. The scenario description screen should contain most all of the information necessary to play a firefight. Reinforcement areas aren't shown here, but these can be displayed by clicking on the reinforcement symbols at the bottoms of the clock graphics near the top of the screen.
3. During reinforcements, basic unit stats are shown on the tooltip that appears when you hover over a unit button. Activating the L key for this screen is a good idea.

Just played Gerry in the lobby. We discussed rules in the chat, I clicked the options button and selected, click host new game and off we go. Nice

I clicked my commander to see the above report. Another nice feature.

I did not find this in the wiki.

If fact there are a few things that need to be added to the wiki. Can anybody edit the wiki?

Gerry4321 -> RE: Public Beta updated v1.12 Now Available! (11/25/2012 2:52:58 AM)

Thanks to JD for taking me for a spin. Once I learnt the ropes, I found it an enjoyable playing environment. I recommend giving HtH a go if you have not done so already.
