Hi guys,
is there any chance that the Italy to join the Central Powers? [sm=00000436.gif]

No. Italy will always join the Entente.

I know historically there was back-room dealing that could potentially have swayed things the other way, but those things are near-impossible to simulate in a way which would be consistent with the rest of the gameplay style.

Just as there was a slim chance the Ottoman Empire could have joined the Entente.

What a pity, was historically possible.
Italy, before the war, was allied with Germany and Austria from 1882 to 1915.
The alliance was only defensive, and there was also frequent contrasts between Austria and Italy, due to the Trentino and Venezia Giulia.
I think it is a possible and realistic what-if. [;)]

I believe the Austrians actually offered parts of the Trentino to the Italians as an incentive to join the CP, but the Entente offered them Trieste as well.

This alternative history could certainly be the subject of a mod...

I fully understand and generally agree with the logic used in how the developers set up the diplomatic side of things. I will say, though, that one mod or variant that would be really nice is one with some degree of randomness perhaps. Right now, you can bank on Turkey and Italy jumping in, as well as when the Russian hordes will appear and when the Commonwealth will make a drive on Palestine and the Levant. It's a nice strategic challenge--how much of Serbia can I eat before Ivan comes calling? When do I have to move some garrisons back to guard against an Italian foray into the Tirol and Trieste?--but it would also be cool if there was some variability.

Then again, given how awkward full-on diplomatic systems end up getting, for little real reward, I'm hesitant to ask for something that would simply add complexity for a small pay off. But as a variant, some random swing of turns ("Italy will enter the war on the Entente side anytime from turn X to turn Y) might be interesting.
