Beruldsen -> What Can I Expect since original version (11/24/2012 5:06:48 PM)

I'm back to playing the game since the original release. I've downloaded the latest version and I'll simply be playing the AI (me as Germans). What differences are there since the original release in terms of game play?

Any quick strategy tips would be also be useful...

Thanks.

There has been so many changes its hard to go into details but playing vs the AI things that will matter the most IMHO are.

1. Blizzard has been changed to be more survible. Its still there and take its toll, but nothing like the release one. Plus to off set it u have about 1 mio more german manpower, so one can vs AI pretty much ignore own losses. At leased its not a factor that should concern u terribly much.
2. Changes to HQBU mechanics. U now need to be within 20 MP of a working RR to be able to do it.

I played the AI at start as german and about half a year ago too the last time. Ofc difficulty matters a great deal vs the AI but as to strategy the same things that worked for me this first time around works the same now. In 41 encircle as much as u can, deal as many casulties as u can and take as much territory(manpower centers) in 41. While AI has unlimited PP and units, its limited by manpower. As manpower has gradually been made lower and lower i find up on a a succesfull 41 campaign and surviving the blizzard with minimal losses taking use of ability to negate the blizzard effects(in urban and cities). U can make the 42 russian army totally ineffective so u can keep advancing at leirsure. After doing more damage(encircle) in start of 42 and start of the 42 summer campaign u can achieve a point where russain AI still has lots of units but nada in them so u can just push them around as to ur liking. Slowing but never stopping any progress.

Kind regards,

Rasmus

I think Walloc hit the high points.

Two other things you will notice.

First, tanks becoming unservicable due to movement has gone way up.

Secondly, building forts is not nearly as quick or easy as it was. To get a level 3 fort, you need to be in a city or in or next to a fortification. No more carpets of single Russian units in level 3 forts 4 rows deep.

Also on the above point about forts - their utility has also been greatly decreased as pioneers/sappers can take them out pretty easily now, thus making defensive CVs inflated by forts a false comfort / impediment once combat actually takes place.
